Why do you mislead?

This looks exactly like Gamebryo with a few post-processing effects added.
I'm not saying I won't play this if you do make a different UI for the PC, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed.
I was expecting something along the lines of id tech 5.

This is obviously Gamebryo. What happened Todd@Bethesda?

The game looks great in general.
A few flaws here and there. Hopefully this will be fixed.

Something that will definitely be changed for PCs though, are the zero-AA and the very low-res textures.

So I think you're.. idk. It's very wrong what you're saying.

Guys, you can moan all you want as can I, but I feel that this is a legitimate question. I'm not saying graphics are end-all be-all. I'm not saying they are the most important aspect to enjoy a game. All I'm saying is when you have a genius like Carmack under your wing, why not use his insight?

Maybe because the creation engine was far underway before they acquired Carmack?

Honestly, I don't understand in the slightest all the graphical opinions. That trailer looks amazing. Feeling a little high-brow today, BGSF?

Oh look. It's THIS uneducated opinion again.

What that because there's a few tiny similarities, it must be exactly the same?

honestly, what kind of graphics were you expecting from an open-world game? This is cutting edge as far as open-world games go. Its definately comparable if not equal to RDR, which I beleive is graphically the best looking open world game out there.

That and Beth have said that ID tech wasn't suited to the sort of open world game Skyrim is.

Personally, I think it looks great.

So we 're not going to discuss this, we 're going to post snide remarks. Oh, right criticism is a no-no.

There's nothing wrong with criticism. Hell, I've piled my own share onto Bethesda just the same as anyone else here. It's when criticism reaches ridiculous levels of expectation and over-generalization that things get problematic. Saying that this game as we've seen it is basically gamebryo with polish fits quite well into over-generalization.

Seriously, what were people expecting?

Take a look at these shots, there's quite a clear upgrade in quality: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1169118-oblivion-vs-skyrim-graphic-comparison/

The game looks good. But not better than the latest Gamebryo offerings is all I'm saying. And tech 5 is supposedly designed to handle large areas.

Wow... The graphics don't look like Gamebryo's engine at all, you should get your eyes checked. Read the topic someone created, comparing the Oblivion graphics to the Skyrim Graphics.

I see a different color palette and better models.

EDIT: I dunno, maybe they should make more new textures. Some of them are straight out of Oblivion. It's understandable why they did it but c'mon.

You know how I can tell it's a different engine?

When the character stabs the guy in the gut and the corpse doesn't spaz out and go flying across the world because it's touching a sword.

Yeah, that's what I want to know too, for everyone that seems to feel the game's visuals are inadequate.

I want an account of what it is these people were looking for in terms of what Skyrim would look like.

I'm asking for a higher polycount and better textures. Off the top of my head.

Ok. So in regard to better textures, we know this was done on the 360, and we know the PC will have higher resolution textures (from Todd Howard GI Podcast).
For the poly-count, can you list games that are just as ambitious as TES in size and content that have higher polys?
And for that matter, can you post video times that showcase moments where you feel the poly count is inadequate?

An Engine is only as good as the programmers.Example you could be given the best Engine in the world,But if you don't know how to program it,then...Look what they did with the Gamebryo Engine from Oblivion-Fallout New Vegas,Same Engine new look. Take an Engine out of a Buick and put it in a BMW,Get my point. I sat it's the Gamebryo Engine,How can they create a new Engine when they can't even fix the Gamebryo one.

Gothic 3 again off the top of my head. And I can't post an edited video I cannot into Premiere.

Even if this was Gamebryo, Gamebryo doesn't have a "look." What you're thinking about is an art direction.

Many, many different types of games that look absolutely nothing like Oblivion have used Gamebryo, like Civilization 4.
