So Todd Howard / Bethesda pretty much have me

Post » Wed Sep 28, 2011 4:54 pm

Damn filters cutting off my title, lol.

I just recently lost my job a couple weeks ago, but in spite of that, I still went out today and upgraded my pre-order to the collector's edition.

I know it's over priced, but I can't help it. I know I'd end up regretting it if I didn't buy it. This game just looks too damned good.

I think there are more important things to focus on.

I can't afford it. I'm already getting the guide too, that's expensive enough as it is.

Ha I do.

I lost my job, but I still got money in the bank. I was thinking of taking time off work anyways due to me having money in the bank, combined with the fact that I have a crap ton going on with school this semester that is taking my time.

you lost your job AND THEN upgraded to the horrendously overpriced collector's edition?

im sorry, but you need help dude :nono: . the CE doesnt have any additional game content or exclusive DLC does it? its all just luxury crap!

im unemployed atm too, but cheap bastard that i am, ive saved enough money for at least a few more months of living....i left my preorder of the standard version alone...

well, at least we'll get to play skyrim for a bit before becoming hobos :goodjob:

The CE just isnt worth it. A portion of the extra price I will instead use on DLC down the road.

Gotta learn to be more careful with your money than that. Do you really need a dragon statue? Really?

A statue is not going to convince me to buy the game for $150 ($165 after tax). I do not even like dragon statues, no matter how cool they look (the alduin one isn't much of a looker in my opinion). I would have thought that $100 is a proper price, but even then I would laugh it off. (not even for $70 would I get it)

The $60 price is appropriate for the regular edition given the scope of the game (I usually like to buy games new when they come down in price, but TES is an exception).

What a stupid decision. If you're out of work that extra $90 would be better spent on food or rent.

It wasn't the dragon statue that sold me, it was the art book and the DVD.

It's also the fact that I am a collector of things like this that I am a huge fan of. For example: When X-Men: First Class came out, I bought it on both Blu-Ray and DVD. Because I'm a collector.

Yes, the $150 price tag is over priced. I'm well aware.

But, Elder Scrolls games come out once every 5 years. With Elder Scrolls being my favorite game series, and me being an OCD type collector, I decided I'd splurge once and get the collector's edition.

Also, this thread was meant to be tongue in cheek, and laughable.

I'm not THAT irresponsible. I lost my job, sure, but I have more than 2 months worth of expenses in the bank, plus extra money in a 2nd account for spending, plus I was already planning on taking time off for a current (but temporary) school load that's pretty excessive, so this time off from work was planned for, and there's also the fact that I do have a few job possibilities flying in at me, so I don't anticipate being jobless for long.

But yea, this thread was intended to be more of a tongue in cheek commentary on my incredible Bethesda really devoted fan-ism, meant to get some chuckles.

I have a great paying job and still cancelled my CE...just too much money imo. I already paid for the preorder of 2 xbox games, 1 for me and 1 for the kids. :celebration:

Serious...? Skyrim is gonna be the best, but is just a game. Why would you lose your grip on the real world by letting it take over your life... Don't you people have friends too hang out with?

I suppose that if I had an extravagant amount of mony, the $150 wouldn't even make me flinch, all because of the drastic change in relevant worth/ratio of my money, but I am not that wealthy. If I was, I would throw the dragon statue in the trash and keep the rest.
