If Todd Howard gave you one item to fix in Skyrim

Edited. When I put in Factions, I meant Guilds as well.

I went with "Other" because I'd work on follower command and control issues. Something more like a wait here/wait there, attack on my order, passive/defensive/aggresive, use this weapon, etc type of thing. Also pathing issues and general speed issues so followers could follow better. I'd also apply this to horses and possible animal followers (bear, saber cat, etc).

Quests. Not because the quests are poorly written or not long enough, but because I keep getting stuck with quests that can't be finished.

The Companions sent me to kill Sild the Warlock. He was already dead from an earlier dungeon sweep. The quest arrow just pointed at his poor, dead head.

"Investigate the Bard's College," though I have already completed a few of the quests, is still stuck there.

Pantea's Flute is in my inventory unable to be turned in, all because I found it before the quest was given.

The library orc-man at the college sent me to find a book that was behind a locked gate that only opens after you kill the dragon priest...who was already dead, so the gate wouldn't open. Then I realized that I already HAD the book, but I couldn't turn the quest in because again, I found it before I received the quest.

I could go on, but what's the point? It's not game-breaking, it doesn't make me love Skyrim any less, but it's just a bit...irritating, you know?

I have two, one on the poll and a other choice, one is the UI and then the map.

None of the Above/Other:

Spell creation!!!! Or at LEAST being able to alter existing spells. For example, you could go into the Magic menu select "Flames" and use a couple of sliders to adjust the range and damage per second.

You know, if your a PC player there's already a fix out for the spell resistance bug. It's packaged with the Skyrim Script Extender.

I would choose more guilds. I was hoping for a large variety of guilds, but we get just 4 again, like vanilla Oblivion. Plus, more options for the completion of quests. One dialouge option for a generic "yes" is not a dialouge tree.

This was an extremely difficult question to find an answer to, but I managed to settle on "factions." I took this to mean guilds, however. At any rate, I settled on this because the lack of meaningful or fulfilling guild quests in Skyrim is perhaps the single-most disheartening feature of the game for me. There's just so much untapped potential (Oblivion guilds were far more fleshed out and meaningful) that I was very disappointed with the guilds I've completed and cannot bring myself to touch the others; I've heard horror stories about the College.

Flesh out the guilds, Mr. Todd. You owe us that much.

Yes the College quest line was a let down... Don't get me wrong it was still fun, and there were some cool set pieces. I just expected a lot more. Magic in general is kind of a let down in Skyrim though. Sure we got dual casting, but we lost quite a bit too! Like:

No spell creation :banghead:
No "Drain" spells :verymad:
No "Night-Eye" spell :nope:
No "Ease Burden" spells :banghead:
No skill fortification spells :verymad:
No health, stamina, or magicka fortification spells :verymad:
No "Open Lock" spell :banghead:
No bound armor (although I would just use Ebonyflesh anyway, still looked cool though)
Only three bound weapons :verymad:
Only five summoned creatures :banghead:

Need I go on?

In all honesty, I feel that players who like to create Mage type characters got overlooked in the making of Skyrim. That's why I REALLY REALLY hope they get the hook-up in future DLC... Psijic Order anyone?

Oh, forgot "Protect Other" that used to save my horse's life all the time in Oblivion! Now I have to sit there and use healing hands on it if it gets attacked. :banghead:

Am I the only one thinking equipment balance?

It seems like every character, regardless of role, is destined to end up in daedric or dragonbone armor. There's really no incentive not to eventually put it on.

On that note, I took about an hour trying to make a character that didn't look like a horse that got hit in the face with a shovel; I feel ashamed to put a helmet or mask on as a result. (No awesome circlets?)

There's like 2 instances where you need to (or perhaps ought to) wear clothes in the game, otherwise they're vendor food.

Food is also vendor food.

The Misc menu could probably be renamed "Junk" with the exception of the few types of crafting items (ore/ingots, pelts/leather) and quest items. There ought to just be a "sell all misc" button. Nobody is collecting pots and kettles, to my knowledge.

Weapons could probably also benefit from some attention, but IMO they're a little bit more varied and balanced than the stuff above.

Obviously performance and bug fixes come before balance, but this stuff irks me for some reason.

Character development:

Putting attributes back in, along with certain skills, and making progression slower with less emphasis on perks.

I voted storyline/lore/continuity. Everything else is icing. I'm happy enough with what I got (complaining achieves nothing) but I think better stories would have put this game over the edge into the 'something awesome' category.

Voted for "None of the Above/Other". I'd have the spell system fixed, not for balance but for more diversity. Balance has never been all too important in TES games.

Not that M&B combat is perfect but it would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Personally, I would nuke the forums.

When it comes to melee combat M&B is closer to perfect than any other game out there by a long shot.
