If Todd Howard gave you one item to fix in Skyrim

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 4:41 pm

If Todd Howard came to you tomorrow and said, out of every gripe, every possible thing you disliked about Skyrim, I will fix one thing for you, no questions asked, what would it be? Be forewarned, some might not agree with all the "problems" I am really just putting them there if there was a complaint.

In this situation, assume nothing else would be fixed.

I will try my best to compose a list of all the gripes about Skyrim.

Spell resistance. It's a hefty bug.

Performance issues by far. I have a PC I custom built for gaming and am stuck on Low graphics because it makes the game more stable. Some actual support for Eyefinity (namely readable menus) would be nice too.

I was expecting a SotC sort of fight at the end. Performance issues,UI, and bugs take priority IMO,but I'd like a DLC that changes the ending.

I have issues pertaining to about 4-5 of your options, but I picked other because my main issue isn't on there.

I would put the pen & paper back into TES if there was only ONE thing I could fix.

Probably Smithing. I feel guilty when I get 2 levels in 3 minutes due to smithing because I didn't work very hard. And yet I like to role play smithing, like I make my own blades and enchant them. I also hunt and make my own armour, only hide and leather, and yet it gives me so much exp even though it's just leather. They really need to balance smithing.

The UI is number 1. I figureed atleast half of anyone who had something to criticize would be voting for the UI

All of the magic spells that they removed. And this is not limited to the ones that we had in Oblivion. I want mark/recall, levitation, slowfall, and all of the other ones that we've been robbed of.

If they have to tweak them so that they aren't overpowered, then whatever. At least I'll be able to open a freakin lock as a mage, or cast silence, or cast chameleon, or summon a skeleton, or damage an enemies weapon/armour, or drain their speed so they can't move very fast, or cure a disease, or cast feather, or cast nigheye, or [insert all of the other spells that the developers were too idiotic to implement].

and while we're at it, fudge it, let's have our godamn spell creation back, right?

That he fix Ugly UI / and make Skyrim perform on the PC like Oblivion did.. Even it was buggy. I'd say Skyrim is worst compared to Oblivion lol
( Seem be more bugs/issues/glitchs etc/things missing that should been in Skyrim, There no Khajit love in Skyrim :( ))

Oblivion did not have "Console " in mind.. Yeah it was later ported over to consoles.. but Skyrim should been made PC users. Heck even PC/Mac.
Console users can suffer. lol Im and I own both Ps3/360 but I did not get console version of skyrim. I'm soo glad I didn't. Thank you modding Comunity for making Skyrim and fixing the mistakes so far
that Bethesda/Todd got too lazy on. :P

I hate the UI with a passion, but it isn't # 1 in my book. Slightly more important and pressing issues IMO concerning true RPG.

The levelling system/character development. It's not broken as such but I think it needs a lot of work to make it more interesting.

If limited to the list I'd choose level scaling closely followed by the UI.

Honestly but if I was to improve one thing out of those listed? Idk if fix is the right word but I would say enhance is. I would like all the main quest lines to have much more interesting stories and to be much longer. Also make several very cool and interesting side quests. I would not care about anything else. If they made amazing quests for my version. It would be perfect.

This was an extremely difficult question to find an answer to, but I managed to settle on "factions." I took this to mean guilds, however. At any rate, I settled on this because the lack of meaningful or fulfilling guild quests in Skyrim is perhaps the single-most disheartening feature of the game for me. There's just so much untapped potential (Oblivion guilds were far more fleshed out and meaningful) that I was very disappointed with the guilds I've completed and cannot bring myself to touch the others; I've heard horror stories about the College.

Flesh out the guilds, Mr. Todd. You owe us that much.

I chose 'other'

My first choice would be a complete combat system overhaul to make battles 70% personal skill focused and 30% gear reliant by using a fighting engine not less sophisticated than fighters like Soul Calibur/ Tekken/ other fighters/ etc...

Don't get me wrong... I like pure RPG's, personally. But I think TES went too mainstream to cater to that. So the next best thing would be to get rid of the mob scaling that has not managed to satisfy more than 60% of their audience in two attempts and try a new way to merge sandbox and RPG.

I have lots of the other issues you listed, but compared to that, the rest don't even show up on the radar.

To take a primo fighting engine like that (that can sell millions as the stand-alone feature of the game) and add everything else on top of it that TES offers would be amazing.

Anything less than this has already been done by other companies dozens of times over. This change ought to be the next Morrowind caliber breakthrough to come out of Bethesda.

Bonus points if they produce a coin-op fighter running that same engine and call it "TES Arena II"

The UI is very anoying for a pc user, I voted for that, but after reading "Daggerfallftw," I realy have to agree, that the roll playing has been almost taken out of the game and would prefer that fixed than an annoying UI.
