A little saddened as that is pretty much a confirmation Skyrim wont release in 3D. Would have been a great game to showcase the tech with.

The rest of the interview was awesome however. I like how he seems focused mentally on improving AI of the inhabitants of Skyrim and how they react to the player.

The interviews were very insightful and revealing to the direction Skyrim has gone. The problem with 3D is as he said, it muddies down the graphics. With 3D, it will not look anywhere as good as the game would normally look. Also, playing for hours upon hours in 3D would probably damage your eyes lol. I mean, I have gone 60+ hours straight gaming in TES before because the game is so amazing and if I did that with 3D I would be blind within a week.

That better be a sign that we have them.

Or he is annoyed people want them so bad and, knows the team did not include them.

But I'll never understand sports games......ever.

Oh I love me some good soccer, err, football game. It's all about some variety in genre for me ;)

On topic. Good interview - and judging from that concept art the cities will indeed be awesome in Skyrim.

I think todd misses why some people realy want more races. Lets say you have a box containing everything about all 10 current races... alot of people want to be outside that box.. a good bit. Because the box to be blunt hasnt exactly been all that spacious...

Thats also I think why people look at number of skills and groan.. they want to be doing something DIFFERENT.

Thats why im always concerned about map size and the skill set and magic syetem... I wana know how big and intersting my new box is gona be.

I think it gets it exactly. His answer just isn't to add races, it's to make those 10 races that we already have more distinct and different from each other, which I think is a really good idea. Race choice shouldn't just be something cosmetic, you can have a hundred races, but it's gonna be pretty shallow if there's nothing special making each unique beyond appearance.

I'm not too worried about the skills as long as what they governed over is retained, athletics and acrobatics were rather redundant, but I'm gonna have to see a complete list of skills before I can groan.

Edit: Besides, we mustn't forget perks at every level for 50 levels.

While I agree with him on most points I have to say that not all JRPGs are entirely linear-true a lot of RECENT JRPGs have been INCREDIBLY linear (*cough*Final Fantasy XIII*cough), but others (i.e. Playstation 1-era Final Fantasy games) have had moments where the world opens up to you and you can discover all sorts of side-quests and such if you go looking for them. Final Fantasy X unfortunately set a standard for having the entire world full-scale and as a consequence eliminating the "world map". I'd like to see a JRPG that tries to reinstate the "world map" with all the graphical advantages that next generation consoles provide-true I've only just recently tried to get back into JRPGs recently so I don't know all of what's out there but I'd love to have those wide open spaces between towns and dungeons again and only a few JRPG games have managed to do that well since the leap to real time graphics.

That said, it's true that most JRPGs seem to lack any particular sense of "verisimilitude"-although that can be kinda be fun in a certain way as well.

There aren't too many games that let you pick among 10 distinct races. You could even double that, considering females tend to get different buffs and debuffs than the males of a particular race.

But as you say, some poeple want to be outside the box. It doesn't matter whether you have 10 or 100.. someone will always want something different. Adding more won't fix anything, and will just give headaches as they'll need to come up with backgrounds, histories, and lore for new races. I think 10 is plenty to satisfy most people.

Well when I mod races in ob and morrowind I always create a tiny race to try and wander around a huge world as something small.

It realy feels different when you come across a monster and its vastly bigger then you.. and your looking up at its kneecaps.....

What did he say about spears and crossbows? I must have missed it. Does it seem to suggest they'll be in or they won't. I know he did talk about thinking more of things to remove than to add...

I think that 10 races is plenty to be honest. I mean how many games out there let you pick more than that? I think the interview was very informative and think we got more information out of it about Skyrim than you think.

@DJGamer- what does verisimilitude mean? (English not first language)

Believability or appearance of realism. If you felt like the events could actually happen and felt like they were happening after watching a movie it means the movie had a lot of verisimilitude.
