todd howard question

Post » Sat Oct 01, 2011 8:36 am

i remember an interview he did many years ago, towards the end he added something like 'oh and this is an xbox exclusive' and the audience cheered. since then i had my reservations about whether or not mr howard deserved my worship like blizzard and sir richard garriot(ultima series) already have.

i read that mirsocosoft paid rock star games like $50mil, yes 50mil to keep the gta IV expansions as xbox exclusives for like a year. thats just nasty cut throught business.

now, the ps3 has lots of excluvies too so i cant really say shame on one console and not the other, since they both do exclusives. and also now skyrim is gonna be released on the same day for 3 different platforms, cant complain about that.

so the question is, is mr howard now pro-multi console launch or is it if msft asks him to make it exclusive he'll say no problem and leave out the ps3 and pc fan's?
am i a hypocrite? yes cause if somebody paid me $50 mil to be exclusive to ps3 or to xbox i would say h3ll yes. but we are talking about who deserves my worship and i dont worship myself, teehee

They already have a deal with microsoft to provide any DLC on xbox first, and PS3 and PC a few months later

Its not really a big deal though

Is it confirmed that it will be all the DLC or just the first one like it was with New Vegas?

Just the first 2

I wonder if thats just how many DLC packs they have planned right now, or if it was just a number they threw out there

I have read this, but thinking about it can this really do anything but cause negative feedback? I mean I'm not going to go out and buy and X-Box so I can get the DLC earlier, so Microsoft doesn't win. PC and PS3 users are just going to be ticked off. I guess Bethesda can be a winner from the money MS paid, as long as they can live with the hate from the PC and PS3 users.

Overall it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me, especially on MS part since they are paying for it.

The Xbox is getting exclusive DLC over a month before anyone else. PS3 and then PC will get it later, in at least a months time.
Contract with Microsoft is the reason, apparently.

Dead Money was released on X-box late December and then later released on PC and PS3 two months later.

Which is great, cept X-box had the glitchiest version of New Vegas, so kinda pointless to say "you can get it two months earlier!" when that statement is shortly followed by "but it's buggy as hell." They had like four times the amount of bugs in New Vegas and all it's DLCs than PS3 and PC had.

So yeah, whatever. :P Let them have their timed-exclusive.

Given that Skyrim is coming out on 11-11-11 on the three major platforms I'd say he's pro-multi console. The exception to this is obviously the DLC's, which will be exclusive to XBox for 30 days. Many people have taken issue with this. Frankly I couldn't care less. If my life is going to be affected AT ALL by a 30 day delay in additional game content, I must be living a pretty good life to begin with.

As for "worship", I'd advise you not to worship a man at all.

Personally I don't like Exclusives. I think all games should be available on all platforms at the same time, as well as DLC.

Saying that, I know that Microsoft and Bethesda are in bed together, anyone can see that. If Microsoft wanted TES to be an XBox Exclusive, it would be.

It's the gaming world we live in. It's almost impossible to have just one gaming system, as I do. I'm missing out on the PS3 exclusives. I'm sure at some point I'll get a PS3 as well.

You can't fault anyone for playing the market. Had Richard Garriot actually done that, he might have not become practically homeless at the abysmal failure of Tabula Rasa. While it may show more individual integrity to "Resist" the so called "Sell out" ploys of Microsoft or other megacorps, the definitive line blurs when you also have to represent your own organization, which could probably do more for everyone with the extra "Buy off" Scratch MS throws their way to keep their aging console relevant in some way.

Just be glad they didn't include Kinect functionality. I'm sure they[Microsoft] tried to get it in there.

I fully expect TES VI and most likely the next Fallout game to be Kinect capable. Microsoft is pushing it more and more and pretty soon all games will work with kinect. That will be a sad state of affairs if that ever comes true.

Maybe, maybe not. I've heard -nothing concrete mind-, but though sales were good, the lack of really good games -thus far- has had a few people feeling like they've bought the Xbox equivilant of the Eyetoy (Only more expensive)

edit: A couple of shops near me actually have pre-owned Kinects in and just one or two units. A lot.

Even if Beth made Skyrim 360 exclusive for a while, for the money, I wouldn't care. I don't want my favourite devs to worry about money, especially the way the economy is. Look at Ensemble Studios :sadvaultboy:

Thats never going to happen, for exactly the same reasons we aren't seeing multiplayer in Skyrim. At the end of the day, Todd Howard and co. are the ones calling the shots about their games, and they won't let that crap happen.
