Todd Howard said Fallout 4 will be supported in 2017 as well

At 2 hours 38 minutes 07 seconds. Watch from there on.

It makes me very happy that Bethesda Game Studios will be supporting their video game(s) for more than one year or one year and five months.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim support stopped on April 2013.

Now I just hope Fallout 4 will also get supported in 2018 as well. For three years is the most amount of years I want to see video games supported for, five years being support is just icing on the cake.

I didn't see anyone catch this yet.

What do you think?

at the 2?-2?yr mark they should be advertising the new elder scrolls release. i wouldn't expect them to support fo4 for more than half that seeing as how the es series is really the only direct competitor for fo series. my opinion, clearly.

1-1?yr tops is all i would expect for direct glitch/bug requisition. maybe 2 for dlc/etc.. somethin's gotta support them until the next release.

i doubt there's gonna be a brink 2 anytime soon!

The interviewer is a tad annoying.

Think he is supposed to be a comedian, and he isn't that funny.

Why would Elder Scrolls be a competitor? It's made by the same developers. If anything they're like cousins who focuses on different things.

That's like saying Bloodborne is a competitor to Dark Souls despite being made by the same man or developrs lol

Bethesda said they stopped working on Skyrim to work on Fall Out 4. So it would make sense they would stop working on Fall Out 4 when they are close to releasing TES VI.

No offense but what relevance does this have to my post about competitors?

Thanks OP!

And I think they will support their game for about 1,5-2 years. Ending with a complete edition.

Yes, my head hurts.

Competition in terms of work priority and resource allocation.

if they had infinite resources, they wouldn't have stopped making DLC for Skyrim to focus on Fallout 4.

It is good news on the one hand, bad on the other; if by 'supporting' they mean actual improving game's elements (like wider variety of quests, new RPG elements or maybe even new dialogue system) I'd be happy to give Fallout 4 the second chance. But if by 'supporting' they mean new DLCs with old mistakes - I'm out.

I'd like them to allow other devs to produce content perhaps, and not just say allowing someone like Obsidian to produce Fallout:Somewhere Else for example but to allow full DLC packages for the main game.

The two products aren't competing on the market, but I suppose they could be competing for the developers time as the next project is ultimately what will pull further development resources away from the current one.

I saw nothing in the video that implied continued support from BGS into 2017. In fact, I doubt the second round of DLC will be as robust as the first considering that the first round includes forty of the sixty dollars worth of content the season pass pays for. Yes, I know that in one spot they said 'more than' sixty bucks, but we can be realistic and chalk that up to marketing hype. If it was going to be more than seventy, or more than eighty they would have advertised with that instead.

Skyrim was running into the memory limits on PS3, 360 did not have much more, FO:NV had problems using all the DLC on consoles.

High chance they did some tests and found another DLC would generate lots of problems and dropped it.

That's not really the kind of venue to where you can (or should) be all that funny. He obviously has wit. Anyway, I thought he was actually a pretty good interviewer in general. His questions were really thoughtful and fairly informed. By the way you guys posted here I was going to skip watching because it sounded like this guy was the second coming of Jamie Kennedy. Glad I gave it a try. Sometimes I forget my personal rule about my internet peers: doubt their judgments.

I never said that you shouldn't watch it though. You are a grown person with free will (i think). Just didn't find the small quips he had that funny, but all in all he did a decent job with the Interview.

Does this mean they will release DLC in 2017? if that's the case I hope that means the season pass will work for those as well.

Yes possibly not only DLC's, but expansion packs and patches as well.

At least I hope so I want AAA video game development companies to finally support their video games for three years to five years.

Todd made a joke about being Frodo & this clueless interviewer calls Todd Smeagol cause he doesn't get the Frodo/Gandalf type of thing LOL.

Yeah real bad "internet peer judgements" here.. :sadvaultboy:

Mm, I think DLC will continue through to the end of 2016, and then 2017 will be about wrapping up the patch process and getting ready for a GotY edition.

Very motivational event, as a Full Sail student with a Game Design major listening to Todd drop knowledge is priceless!

This is most likely what he means by support. To expect dlc past this year, is a tad presumptuous

I seriously hope Bethesda Game Studios does not wrap up stopping releasing DLC's and expansion packs for sale in 2017 and release them in 2017 for sale as well.
