Apparently Todd Howard says there's less of a leap from Oblivion to Skyrim. Sorry if posted

Good, that's about what I was expecting, nice to see Todd open about it.

Can't wait to see how bad this gets twisted and mangled out of context...

I dunno about step forward, having not played it and being unsure about many design decisions, but it's certainly MUCH more different from OB than OB was from MW. But many would argue that OB was a leap backwards anyway.

Nothing changes for me I'm still getting the game and playing it to the fullest!

Dragons, double handed spells, Tavern brawls! That's more then exciting for me.

He's talking mainly about graphics/technology here folks. Morrowind and Oblivion on different generation hardware. Oblivion and Skyrim aren't.

It makes sense it will not be as technologically ahead of Oblivion as Oblivion was ahead of Morrowind. It is being developed on the same platform as Oblivon so there wont be as big of a gap in terms of graphics, but graphics do not make a game fun in my opinion so its not a problem for me. It will however look better because its newer and they have had experience with the Ps3, 360, and PC...

:brokencomputer: So first Todd lies about the game being like a next generation game, and then he goes on to say that the game is barely even a step above Oblivion?! :banghead: :swear: :flame:

Oh, give it a rest. Everyone should have expected less of a leap forward, not just "complainers". It's on the same hardware, and it's pushing it to it's limits. Going from the xbox to the 360 was both an upgrade in technology and technique. Sk will only be an upgrade in technique, so of corse it would be less of a jump forward. Everyone knows this, and while some are upset pcs are being held to a 360 standard no one is suprised by this. There's nothing for "complainers" to twist and mangle because it's common knowedge.

I take it the owl means that you're kidding? Remember that nobody here understands satire.

Exactly. I don't see why people are so upset now; we've known this.

Howard had previously said that Bethesda had "very serious" conversations about delaying Skyrim for the next generation of consoles but felt that could keep it visually and technologically "fresh" on current hardware.

That would have been terrible...

Okay, I see what was meant now, but I wasn't meaning graphically. Still, biggest leap in graphics ever was from Daggerfall to Morrowind.

well who would expect 2 games on the same generation of consoles to be as different as 2 games from different generations? if skyrim WAS as much of a leap i would seriously question how hard they actually worked on oblivion.

Yep.

Thinking of how good Oblivion still looks, this doesn't surprise me. It'll be awesome when we get the next gen Elder Scrolls game. Can you imagine a leap in technology greater than Morrowind to Oblivion?

When people post an owl, you should assume they're being sarcastic. Especially after saying something sarcastically directed at those who would complain about such a thing.
