Hey there, I listened to your interview with gameinformer and I noticed that you mentioned a lot of PC RPG games such as Mass Effect and other great titles and my question is :
I would like to know what is your thought on the game The Witcher. I think it is not only a mind-blowing game but in my opinion I feel it really redefined the RPG genre that we know of. Mature storyline, Immersive world,
Maybe you didnt play it , but if you did so.. what is your thought on the game in general ? Did you like it?
Did it gave you inspiration for Skyrim?
I dont know if I am allowed to post such straight forward question to Todd Howard, if it is against the rules please delete this thread
To the OP: First of all, I would like to say.............I am not Todd Howard so don't get your hopes up. I am kind of curious about the Witcher though. Although I don't have a PC that can play the game, I have been keeping an eye on the Witcher 2 in hopes it will come out for consoles. The game looks great, and I have heard great things about the first game, so I am really interested. So what is the game structured like? Is it totally open like ES games, because from some of the videos and screens, it looks pretty linear, but maybe with some open areas. I get kind of a Fable vibe at least as far as the game world is structured. By that I mean that you are open to travel around, but it is just mostly linear paths with cities sprinkled around. Maybe I am wrong. Is the game filled with factions and guilds and side quests, or is it just mainly the main story and that's it?
Anyway, I love the idea of the more mature them, but I wouldn't want Skyrim to venture too far from what made the ES games what they are. What else beyond the mature storyline did you think was so great about the Witcher that you believe could be translated to Skyrim?
