Todd Howard: It took 3 Years to make Skyrim

Post » Sat Aug 13, 2011 2:13 pm

Was Fallout 3 and NV made first and then Skyrim, should Bethesda focus on TES 6 after Skyrim instead of Another Fallout so that we Dont have to wait 5 Years for the Next TES Game.

Is the Fallout Series even that good to let the Next TES Game slide for Another 5 Years.

Todd Howard isent getting any Younger and there are still Allot of TES Games to be made, how many exactly.

They started slowly right after Oblivion. Probably with concepts, ideas, and such. They started full "for real" with the entire team right after Fallout 3. So... it kind of took 5 years but still 3 "full/real years".

I believe the Fallout series is worth focusing on for FO4. I absolutely loved FO3, and it's the game that has won most awards of all of Bethesda's games.

Edit: This topic is more about TES6 than... TES5. :P

I want a Fallout 4 before another Elder Scrolls game. I really wanna see the engine used in Skyrim applied to Fallout.

Well, F:NV was made by another company, Obsidian. Shouldn't we all know that by now?

I'd like to see Fallout 4 with the Skyrim engine, and I'd like for Obsidian to make a spin off of either game.

And I want this now.

Hopefully, they do another Fallout. As I and obviously others, have enjoyed the title. Bethesda has said that Fallout wasn't something they were going to do once and be done with. So, odds are even though they're working on :tes: , they probably have concepts for :fallout: . I really want to see what they do with the next Fallout, after seeing what they've done and where they've gone with Skyrim, I'm excited that Fallout will be better than its predecessors.

Odds are, they'll also release the next game on next-gen consoles whenever they may be announced.

Plus, since they can switch between the two, I think it gives the team time to relax and refresh on TES, where as when working on TES it let's them refresh and get ready for Fallout. I personally, can't wait for Skyrim, and can't wait to see what they're going to do next.

I can't stomach Fallout. I pray that Bethesda sticks to TES from now on.

They were already hesitant about Skyrim being on this generations consoles to begin with so I don't see them making another TES until the new generation consoles come into play.

Exactly.

I'm personally looking forward what they can do with Fo4. If it's going to change as much as Skyrim has changed from Oblivion, it has potential of being an extremely good game.

I cant wait for Fallout 4. And by the looks of it, we should get it w/in the next console generation(unless disaster strikes and the next gen gets held back several years). Also that would mean that TES:6 would be made with a team already experienced with the next series of consoles, similar to what happened when they made Fallout 3. Win-Win! :celebration:

According to an interview before Skyrim was officially announced, it was said Bethesda has two games in deveploment. Skyrim is one of them obviously, and the other is propably Fallout 4. Once Skyrim and it's extra content is done with they'll propably start with preliminary work for TES VI.

I want them to make FO4 for the release/soon after release of the next generation of consoles. That gives them a chance to really push themselves and learn the hardware inside and out so that when they make TESVI it will be that much more amazing! Look at the difference between Oblivion and Skyrim, they use the same hardware (as far as consoles go) and look at how much more they were able to do with Skyrim then Oblivion just by learning the technology first doing Oblivion and FO3.

As much as I'd love to have another TES game in 3 years (rather than 5), I can't help but see that 5 years is really the perfect amount of time, for more than one reason.

1.) Anticipation. Fans appreciate something more when they've been waiting for it longer. If they had only waited 3 years to release Skyrim after Oblivion, the reaction to the announcement would have been nowhere near as huge, and none of us would be anywhere near as excited.
2.) Tech Advancement. What makes each TES game feel so new and fresh each time? The fact that the graphics and gameplay have undergone 5 years of improvement. (The improvements they made on graphics and gameplay for Fallout 3 were essentially the halfway mark between Oblivion and Skyrim.)
3.) Writing/Content. Let's not forget that the more time they spend on the game, the better the content will be overall... and by that I mean fewer bugs, better quests, more unique characters and places... just an all around better-designed game.

Ah, man... I can't wait for FO4. (New York City) I definitely think it'll be worth the wait. Hopefully Skyrim will keep me entertained until it comes out, or is at least announced.
