Post » Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:38 am

OK, I just want to know one thing plain and simple is it possible to turn off the Experience from poping up on the screen everytime you do sumthin in the game, because after the first couple days that might start to annoy me lol. Just wondering though still going to buy the game non the less. :disco:

We have seen it both on and off. It may be one of those optional things.

I absolutely love when the exp pops up. It gave me the ebst feeling in borderlands whenever that happened, I knew how many points I was getting, each shot did so certain damdgae per gun as well as what enemy it hit. it was eaier to tell its weaknesses if the damage was bigger or smaller.

Its a prime HUD componet that reallyis genious. when I saw it in this game I was MEGA excited! I hope they keep it. As an option I would not mind at all.

From what I heard they got rid of the XP popping up instead they have a counter that will appear under your cross hair and it will total up all XP you are getting I.E like if you are carrying something to a base it will total up all XP you get from that and other things like killing.

Correct and an official dev statement.
If I remeber the gameplay video directly they had a translucent circle kinda thing around your already circular crosshairs that filled up as you killed an enemy or completed an objective, quite cool, easily seen, and unobtrusive IMO. I mean you'll already know how much exp you've got and how close to completing a task you are all while looking at the same place you would have been anyway.

There is no XP value pop up in some of the videos. I imagine that and many other options are customizable in the final game. Personally I would want my cross hair as a dot with no extraneous symbols around it. XP I'd prefer to be a number in the corner. Ideally I'd want every instance of earned XP exported to an excel spreadsheet with time stamps and appropriate multipliers noted. This never happens. Every game with a wiki has all the figures worked out because someone either reversed engineered it with trial and error or cracked into the game data files. I'm sure there are programmers who are aware that a minute amount of players would love such of tracking this data. The time to implement and document it is never spent for the final game because not enough people would use it. An example of the industry catching on to gamers with magnifying glasses would be "DPS" becoming prevalent in games.

Although I don't mind the pop ups, I think it would be a safer decision to just have the counter in the corner of the screen in Cr in halo reach, that way you pretty much only notice it if you want to.

I'd rather have comical blood then, xp pinging, just so it stays in that realm of realism.
