Tomorrow things will change

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:25 am

First off, FO3 modding isn't going anywhere. It will continue just the way Morrowind modding has continued despite the release of Oblivion.
But undoubtly things will change tomorrow with the release of New Vegas. So I think this is the best opportunity to give each other a pat on the back and be proud of what we all accomplished.

In barely two years we've seen many amazing mods, doing things we haven't seen before in games. The creativity and talent of this community is amazing and the high quality of the mods show that. We have fantastic new content mods and ones that change the entire game in significant ways. All this allows players to build their personal perfect Fallout 3 experiences, which is something that is very rare and special in gaming.
And not only are the mods great, but the people in this community are also incredibly supportive and courteous to each other, creating a great atmosphere that inspires and motivates.

To every modder I want to say, even if you will usually not see your players face to face, always remember that your work has brought fun and joy to dozens, hundreds or even thousands of people in the world. That alone makes all our efforts worth it.

So a big thanks to all the modders for what you have created and thanks to the players for enjoying what we've created. And as always thanks to Bethesda for giving us the tools to make all this possible.

cheers,
K

I agree. Here's to modding, and the good people I've met doing so.

Without FO3, I wouldn't have been modding, and without that, I wouldn't have met most of you.

That's worth something, too me.

It's a shame I haven't had a chance to mod fallout 3 yet, but it's good to know that when I do get round to it there will still be many people willing to try my mod's even though there is a more recent game available.

As a mod "consumer" i want to give a huge thank you to every person in the modding community. You have made Fallout 3 so much more than it was initially :goodjob:

I always really enjoy seeing what the community comes up with and love being able to make the things that fill my imagination.

I woke up this morning with an urge to mod The Pitt, or at least to see if anyone else has made what I want, so I don't think I'm going anywhere and neither are a lot of people here!

Good topic. Thank you to all relatively newer modders here who have done so much for expanding FO3. I've seen so much that I never expected, and I look forward to seeing what can be done with the improved GECK in New Vegas.

While I've only dabbled at Modding and not done anything significant, I have been a huge Mod consumer, so I would like to give a hearty thank you to those who have given me so many extra hours of enjoyment from Fallout 3.

Significant mentions go to the makers of:

Cube Experimental
D.C. Interiors
Enhanced Weather Mod
Fellout
Power Armor Mod
Waste Wear Gloves
Combat Duster
MissingUniqueArmorClothing
Fixed Chinese Stealth Suit
Usable Cigarettes
Black Wolf Backpacks
Hair Day
Night Vision Goggles
More Where That Came From
Tactical Weapons

And a huge "Great Job" to the rest of the modding community!

I'll be returning to Fallout 3 modding once my army service is over... Too many uncompleted mods... I can only hope I'm not the only one then.

Well ... I for one will not be getting New Vegas when it comes out (in Europe :D), as I simply have to much on my hands right now to rip a month out of my calendar - not to mention that I expect to go for Civilization V first when I do get time. On the other hand, most of my FO3 projects are pretty much done, and I can't help to be curious on how the new GECK works.

Thanks to everyone for your contributions! Mods, bug reports, suggestions, ideas and the attempts to do the seemingly impossible - storming mod Nirvana.

It has been a fun ride, bumps n'all.

Yeah, like the Flying Dutchman's gonna be done any time soon
..cuz it ain't. :D

we'll keep each other company :)

..and thank everyone for what you guys have done.

Personally I think FO:NV is going to resemble FO3 with the best mods hard coded in to it.

That, is the best praise for what you guys have done here.

I was only ever a newb lurker with some crazy ideas, and I built a building once.., and goofy cheerleading -where did I leave my pom-poms.

And Acky of course :D

and also the following modders for their wonderful contributions, to name a few:

DarN
Miaximus
Arwen

I want to thank this community for giving us your free time. This goes for everyone that has ever made a mod, learned how to make an edit, provide help to anyone that needed it, provided ideas, provided testing, provided feedback, and the list goes on and on. Every little bit helped to give us way more play time with this game, than any game that you can't make any changes to. Because of everyone here, we never get bored of our game. Because of everyone here, we can have many different ways to play our game almost every single day.

None of you had to give us your free time, but you did, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, that you did.

Thank you everyone :hugs:

Rather than name the few mods you use, its better to say thanks to everyone who made a mod and released it free to everyone else.
There are plenty of good mods that went under the radar scope of the general mod using community.

So, cheers to everyone who 'released' their mods to the community. :celebration:

I will not be getting Vegas for personal reasons so I will be modding FO3 for some time yet.

Here Here.

I don't know why even thinks they will have to leave Fallout 3 to New Vegas? I can understand the curious nature one gets when a new game with the ability to use modded content comes out but why is everyone saying goodbye already?

Because more toys to play around with = more fun? It'll have new meshes, new functions, new areas to explore...

Anyway NV modding is ruined for me forever with the discovery NVNexus is continuing file numbering from FO3Nexus' numbers, so my plans for Wazer Dogmeat File #1 have all gone up in smoke.

I will not be getting Vegas for personal reasons so I will be modding FO3 for some time yet.

Great news! The second part, that is. ;) I hope many others follow suit... or hey, mod for both if preferred.

I'm just discovering (with great timing? :P) how easy it is to make very simple mods, and simple edits. The first thing was because there didn't seem to be a mod that added [a tiny amount of] weight to bobby pins. So I made one - wow, that was easy! My first mod, such that it is. But I've since been experimenting with both the GECK and FO3Edit, and well, who knows. I might even become "a modder" one day.

That aside, many thanks to those who've made FO3 so much better by their efforts, their generosity, with modding the game. And those who continue to do so, as well as any who might catch the spark at any time in the future. :foodndrink:

I'm very excited to get ahold of the NVGECK and have much more ambitions modding plans for NV if I like it as much as I've liked FO3 (I only started FO3 modding earlier this year even though I've been playing it since Dec 08). And a lot of that has to do with some of the changes we've heard about; both to the GECK and the game. But, even with all of that in mind, as long as there is someone playing my FO3 mod and asking me questions about it, and I'm still a part of the community, I'll be supporting it. I don't have any plans to leave FO3 forever.
