If tomorrow you woke up in Vault 111...

Post » Sat Feb 27, 2016 3:03 am

If you awoke tomorrow and found yourself in the cryochamber inside vault 111, how would your life story go? In the realistic terms of not having a save/load feature in your life, would you venture out of the vault or try to scrounge for food? Would you go past Sanctuary or scavenge nestled in the "safety" of your old destroyed ruins of a house? Would you actually hear the gunfire from concord and try to help Preston or turn direction and flee? Would you brave the extremely dangerous travel to Diamond City or would it stay a dream? In short, would you turn bare bones survivalist trying to stay alive by scavenging or would you instead turn self made mercenary braving enemies through the sights of your gun?

Interested to hear see some fun, creative (somewhat realistic) writing here...

I believe the curiosity would get the best of me and I would head straight out of 111 to my old home. After a couple days of scavenging and living in my ruins I would head to Concord. Upon hearing gunfire I would cautiously move from house to house spying on the shootout. Finally after working up the courage to help Preston at the museum, I would turn around to a Bloodbug hatchling who without hesitation would gouge out my eyeball. The End.

(Although if I id make it through and save Preston, I would definitely stay with the Minutemen all the way and only venture outside of Sanctuary with Preston and at least a couple others by my side.) :tops:

I would probably make Vault 111 my main settlement instead of Sanctuary.

It's really odd that they just let a perfectly good vault go to waste.

Also it's creepy that you don't have an option/quest to bury/cremate your dead spouse.

She's just... lying there.. about a year later in-game in my case.

Agreed! Once the radroaches and dead corpses were taken out, I could see vault 111 being a nice cozy place to live.

I would be killed by first Deathclaw I encounter, power armor or not.

So my journey would be.. rather short.

The biggest problem with using Vault 111 as a settlement would be the elevator. How many people in the world of fallout know how to fix that thing and what happens if it breaks closed, and even if it breaks open, everything and everybody would have to enter or exit the vault via either a pretty slender spiral staircase or ladders. The power supply also seems to be close to failing and there are not that many beds there.

I suppose they could build their own elevator in the shaft

Lol. Agreed. Venturing to Diamond City would be a trip filled with heart attacks on top of all else. Could you imagine making it as far as Lexington and seeing your first ghoul? That planned trip would end real quick.

Okay so I have a Vault, it has power, clean water, a sealed door that only a few people can open (people with pip-boys). its only real problem is a bit of a mess, and some roaches.

why in gods name would I (or anyone) set up shop in Sanctuary?

I probably wouldn't get out of vault 111, I'd just be slowly rocking back and forth in a corner somewhere, playing holotape games on that pipboy still connected to that dead guys arm. Possibly shouting random outbursts at my pet radroach called Mr flibble.

I'd basically slowly transform into salad fingers. If you don't know what salad fingers is, YouTube it . . actually, no don't. Its friggen weird, whatever he's meant to be.

Memories? Seriously good point but our need for nostalgia might overpower the fear of the new mutated commonwealth...maybe.

May I recommend a meeting with Trashcan Carla. She's alive, available and probably a better match.

Nope. I'd recommend Piper but she is all the way in Diamond City which might as well be 1000 miles away with all the danger in between. Although, I've heard there is alot of available gals at the slog.

First thing I would do is bury my wife. After I buried my wife I would most likely simply try and survive.

...and...

Let's put it this way. If you found a fusion core, power armor and minigun just lying around, would you actually brave Cambridge, Lexington for good salvage or would you huddle and stay in Sanctuary for more of a defense approach?

I think finding the minutemen in Concord would be the best course of action. If you were somehow able to realistically take the deathclaw down, you'd be able to learn the ways of the wasteland with them in Sanctuary and in turn, up your probability of survival.

I would most likely fortify 1 position(bomb shelter in sanctuary) and venture out little by little to scavenge. I wouldn't use the power armor I would save it in case a large group of raiders took notice of my little fortification or followed me home. I'm sure eventually I would make it to Diamond City, but as someone who for all intents and purposes believes their whole family is dead, I wouldn't be playing hero for Preston and his group. At the end of the day I'm just here for the gasoline.

Well, the vault itself is more or less a tomb already, and he/she is probably "safer" down there, than in the soil above where he/she could be dugged out by wild roaming dogs or other wild life, looking for something to eat :)

I would be killed by the radroaches in the vault...

there is no way you could survive a fight with a small stick against several huge insects that crawl and fly at you.

It would depend on how well surviving in Sanctuary goes. If it's months of hell before they show up, then yes. I wouldn't know anything about them or there ideals. I would just say the best hope for survival.

Lol. Although, I believe I would have managed to break open the "Master lock" compartment holding the Cryolator (so many pieces of metal lying around). Then those pesky radroaches would be a tasty frozen snack along with dogs and bloodbugs. If I had enough ammo I'd take Mr. Cryo to the top of a building in Concord and rain down frozen hail on those Raider rats! Preston and the gang would be the way I would survive, hands down.

Want to hear something realistic?

Most likely I'll get bitten and eaten by Radroaches residing there. Fin.
