Tone Down Graphics to Allow Split Screen?

Not having splitscreen might actually make me not buy this.

I guess not, but one of the big reasons I got my Xbox was to play video games with my friends. Not all of my friends have Xbox's you know.

Totally true. But I prefer to play co-op with friends online instead of split screen. Playing split screen muffles my playing (As in i can't play in split screen). It would be a nice feature but I would rather have graphics.

no way is a split-screen worth getting rid of these graphics i realize they're not the best graphics ever but they're really nice looking.

I recently learned that brink does not offer split screen play.....[censored] THAT!!!
Unfortunately for me i have an xbox and don't have xbox live so inorder for me to play with my friends we have to play on the same xbox or with system link
I strongly disagree with SD's choice to leave out split screen, whats your opinion?

I agree completely. There is nothing like getting together with one or more of your buddies and gaming all together in the same room. Without split screen, and without even SYSTEM LINK, Bethesda has taken away that joy. Now if you want to have that experience you have to 2+ xbox's, 2+ TVs, and 2+ xbox live subscriptions. That just seems ridiculous to me.

I merged a second splitscreen topic into the other one that was going on, in case there was any confusion.
:)

You do know that Bethesda is not the developer of this game, right? And beyond that... it strikes me as odd that folks are bothered by something that I don't believe was adverstised as being included in the game can be "taken away".

Sorry to say it, but with online gaming becoming more prevalent on consoles, splitscreen is a dying breed. I used to enjoy it back when it was the only option for playing multiplayer on a console, but nowadays I'm greedy and I want my entire screen, not half a screen with a dumbed-down HUD and impaired vision.

I can understand why some wish it was in the game but... I fear that population is in the minority. And developers will always spend their resources on implementing features that offer the greatest return - and I don't believe splitscreen qualifies as one of those features, especially because it would probably HURT sales enough to offset the slight increase offering it would give.

No split screen is not that big of a deal.....

For those that either can't afford multiple xbox's or even multiple copies of the same game, this is actually a fairly big deal. An even bigger problem is that if you live out in the country (as most of my friends and I do), you don't always have access to high speed internet. Because Brink isn't doing LAN or split-screen, this is really going to cut into our enjoyment :(

I wouldn't appreciate split-screen in this game for this reason; this game is an objection based team game. A lot of communication is going to be needed for success. When people are split-screening, they 98.75% of the time don't use mics. and when you are playing with someone who doesn't have a mic, It gets frustrating.

but i guess this doesn't really have anything to do with the topic. haha sorry

yea but spilt screening or not many people do not have mics for there game systems

I've heard the PSN suffers from a lack of mics, but quite a few people on XBL use them. Enough to where I'd actually say the majority of people use them.

Oh, and I have no idea about how often PC users use them.

yea i see a lot of people on xbox with them to but even with a mic a lot of them don't have a lot of cooperating skills some of them might buy the game to just mess around that's why I hope there is a good search preference in matchmaking

split-screen for off-line only (with bots) would be cool...... They may add it in the FreeMode(or something called like this)

And that's part of my point. Had Splash Damage included splitscreen, that's one less copy they would have sold.

not to mention another thing they'd have to incorporate spending more money making it harder for such great graphics gameplay and story line oh and art works as well.

That's for "on-line" splitscreen. The devs are talking alot about how they've blurred the lines between off line and online, developing the same characters in both, so having offline co-op or competetive splitscreen (even if it was only 2 player) would be huge and obviously wouldn't effect communication on-line at all.

Also, I've played CoD:BO on-line co-op and while we don't always use a mic there's A) the fact that we are communicating so you have 2 people on the same page at all times and B) we're always listening for communications from others. Teamwork is a mentality, you either have it or you don't and even if you don't have a mic it still works.

I would love split-screen, it's the only thing that's keeping me from pre-ordering it right now.

EDIT: Hmm, it seems it turned my point B into a smiley, oh well.

eh i already got two games on order, two xboxes, and two xbox live accounts so i don't need split screen, but i understand reasons. i still will rather have better graphics than split screen.

I agree man, I have no idea why people make such a stupid big deal out of split screen. I thought that was made irrelevant after online gaming. Welcome to 21st century gaming

On-line gaming is useless when the other person

1. Doesn't own the same conole.
2. Doesn't own the game.
3. Is sitting in my livingroom.

Some people still like seeing other people, in person.

I think it would be fine to tone down the graphics just for the local cooperative, but if they did it to the whole game it would ruin the immersion and the experience.
