Too easy! So many cool features in this game get wasted.....

I've talked about having a true 'survival mode' in this game before. Having eating and drinking and sleeping being necessary for survival. Making this game feel like a true apocalyptic wasteland. How much more meaningful would all that food you grow on the settlements become... As well as so many other features in the game.

Take for instance, drinking water. How many of you have stood in some water and leaning down, cupped your hand and drank by pressing a button. It's actually really cool. The load screen actually say 'drinking water in the wasteland is a tactical consideration, it can offer health replenishment, but it will cause radiation poisoning' or something like this.

The point is, that I think there are so many cool little features in this game that are wasted, because they are simply superfluous. The game is pretty easy, even on Survival difficulty -- so that you rarely need to make careful tactical considerations like 'should I drink radiated water or not?'. Because the game makes it unnecessary.
Even on Survival the game offers sooo much loot and an abundance of items like Stimpaks. It effects other things like cooking... I mean cooking apart from some of the weird buff you get from cooking, using it as an alternative to Stimpaks is simply not needed, given the abundance of Stimpaks even on the hardest difficulty. You should have to hunt and cook, to replenish health...

I find when games are hard, it changes the experience, forces the player to use all the resources available to them, and also play more strategically....

Join us doing Dead-is-Dead playthroughs. I swear a lot of the stuff you find superfluous won't be any more. :)

I agree with everything you say though, IF you want a real survival game. It isn't, and I'm fine with that. Give it 6 months and you'll have plenty of mods that gives you exactly what you describe.

I agree with you that having an optional, challenging survival mode would be great. Even FONV was too conservative with its survival mode, and you had to use mods to make it challenging.

If you're on pc, give it a few months, and there will be some great, game changing mods out. Unfortunately I don't think a survival mode, especially a challenging one, is BGS style, so you're out of luck if you're on console.

There's talk of mods coming to PS4 and Xbox One as well though. It will take a little while probably but I hope it happens! A NV style hardcoe mode would be great in FO4. :)

I aldo find it hard to understand why this kind of difficulty is not an option in the game, since survival mods were in the top most downloaded mods out there.

I thought that they would implement at least top 10 mods as basic features already available at start. Mods clearly show what the demand is.

I don't like current type of difficulty, it just makes killing longer not harder. It is the most lazy way of doing it possible.

Agree. It's the easiest beginning among all Fallout games.

Like i've mentioned earlier, make the difficulty with alot of options the player can turn on and off. Scale your own damage and enemiies damage, realistic needs, slow healing with stimpaks etc. More options never hurt anyone.

I entirely agree. For me, Fallout is not complete without a survival mod involving eating, drinking and sleeping. As you say, the food growing aspect will really come into it's own with such a mod. I'm sure that we will not have to wait long for some smart modder to put one out there.
