TOO MANY DRAGONS!

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 3:44 am

OK.. Don't get me wrong here, I enjoy fighting dragons and Skyrim is an incredible game. But there are way too many dragon encounters!! A dragon every where you go is a little much.. before completing the main quest it feels like less of an issue but after its done..WOW! To be honest after the defeat of Alduin I was kinda hoping I didn't have to fight as many dragons..

Had to post this and see what the other citizens of Tamriel thought. :foodndrink:

Too many dragons = too much fast travel. until they fix that (mods) don't fast travel short distances or get used to your dragon buddies :D

haha i know how you feel :)
I thought the same thing, that after the main quest it would be quiet as far as Dragons were concerned...Nope! i swear they have been learning from Cliff Racers on how to grind a person down :yucky:
I do love the Dragons of Skyrim, just..not in such frequency..

Yeah I fast traveled to go do some hunting to a river and a dragon was there in my face instantly. And I mean IN MY FACE not off in the distance... literally on the ground blowing ice in my face with his head 2' away. I had to pull swords out and start button mashing instantly lol.

I like lots of dragons but they seem to have a few quirks like this, plus they seem to rather engage wild life or anyone except me, which is a little annoying. Ok dude I just dropped half your health with one hit, yet you are still more angry at that mudcrab for hissing at you than me. It's funny how they brag about their AI then there are little things like this left behind....

BTW, was dragons picking up enemies just something for the demo? I've yet to see that happen 65 hours into the game. I think it doesn't exist and was scripted.

Pretty sure they respawn, have at least 60 dragon bones and scales each in my storage. Kinda collecting them, probably should sell most of them.

Haven't bumped into many dragons, 30 hours and I've fought 5 including scripted.

I've used fast travel once... definitely seems to be the thing.

Maybe they decided if you were in such a hurry to go from place to place, you'd be in a hurry to fight all the dragons too....

Sounds like they need to tweak their equations a bit when people fast travel a lot.

I do not know what is worst:
1) Each time I travel to Riverwood there is a dragon attack
2) River wood dragon is so dumb he just keeps on passively flying in circles out of my reach, even when I clearly try to kill him. Preventing me from trading or fast travelling to another location

I fast travel basically everywhere and I don't think there are an overwhelming quantity of dragons. They could certainly reduce the spawn chances on fast travel but I think people's perceptions on this are off, tbh. After you've played the game for a long time, the dragons are more memorable than a lot of other stuff, and it seems like there have been dragons constantly when in fact you've played so many hours that it is a pretty reasonable amount of them for all the time you've put in.

It might have been a graphics glitch, but I'm pretty sure I saw a dragon grab an elk, fly off with it and drop it.

Couldn't find the elk though.

Possibly, there just seems to be a theme that those fast travelling a lot seem to complain about constantly bumping into dragons. But at the same time, I've seen posts where they've fought 12 dragons in 25 hours, more than triple those I've encountered. It could just be completely random I guess.

Its also possible that the probability of bumping into a dragon is linked to your progress along the main quest line perhaps? Just a theory. I've not completed the Jurgen quest yet after 30 hours and thats pretty early in the timeline I suspect, and so not bumped into a lot of dragons. That would slightly link itself to fast travel in that you're more likely to have progressed further in the main quest if you fast travel.

I am on Jurgen quest right now, about 40 hours into Skyrim. I have no problem with dragons, it just the one that CONSTANTLY spawn at Riverwood (2 out of 5 times I travel there), he is so dumb he refuses to fight me. Just flying around and around, causing panic in the town.

Early on in the game encounters are minimal, but after the main quest is completed they definitely seem to be more frequent. Happy travels! :D
