Too many invisible barriers

Post » Sun Feb 01, 2009 5:00 am

It seems just about every hill and mountain has an invisible barrier on it. Sometimes this is warranted, others completly unnecessary. Like on a moderate incline just out of nowhere a random barrier will appear. :banghead: A good example, Fire Root Cavern, I challenge everyone here to get on top of that hill without running into an invisible barrier. If you do, I will give you a cookie. :cookie:

I play on PC, and didn't like them either, so, got a mod that removes 99% of them.

Wow if modders can do it this soon, Obsidian should patch it.

I have never been bothered by these barriers yet in the game. Anyplace I have wanted to go to I can get to.

Yeah but still, 1% still gonna block you from a location.

Still a heck of a lot more places to gain height and snipe from then FO3, ( which was full of ruined builings. )
Assault courses like Quarry junction as well with drop off and secure places.
A few hills with IB syndrome ( irritable barriers? ) don't bother me, and I''ve yet to fail climbing one that was not a cliff face.

I tried to swim into the lower part of the hoover dam ,only to be blocked by a net, So i try to climb over only to get blocked by a invisible wall >:|
If i want to jump off the hoover dam or swim into it the game should let me.
Yes i know you can swim/jump from the other side but thats the boring side of hoover dam

Glad I am not the only one wo tried that, even if it was a deathscene not a wall. Best. Death. Ever.

Honestly, I hate invisible barriers when they block you from a place that is just over a small hill. That seriously puts me in a slapping mood :stare:

I have run into many barriers that irritate me because I spend half a minute trying to make a jump before realizing it is in fact an *impossible* jump for no special reason at all. There's even barriers across terrain that seems perfectly traverseable and which seem to serve no purpose but to mock and torment the player. I might look into one a' them "barrier be gone" mods....

I don't get why they didn't simply design the terrain better. I mean, if I'm not supposed to go that way, how about a giant rock, or a pile of rubble, or make the hillside actually steep? Nope, you get a surprise invisible wall! :banghead: Seems lazy to me.

alot of places have empty holes going outside the map where the barriers are, also it's not that [censored] hard to walk around is it?

No, I thought not.

The real thing to ponder is: Can an invisible barrier appear? If an invisible barrier appears, then it is no longer an invisible barrier.

All true, but I was over it months ago. I just don't try to climb over mountains any more, problem solved.

That is a great point that I have not seen made before.

I don't see it... F3 had like a bazillion this one has like 5. I will say I haven't seen everywhere, but at least in F3 you could crest a hill without having to hit a "sweet spot" Which is really what happens because there will be a gulch, and you can only get out A: Where they made a slight incline that's only a tad bit different then the other sections, or B: You find a divot or other trench and can work your way up. Which makes no sense since I should be able to run anywhere in the reasonable boundaries.

I don't cry myself to sleep over it or anything, I find another way around. It's just a little immersion breaking is all. If I were to see some sort of obstacle, I might still try to climb it, but if I fail I know that's my own fault and that I'm not supposed to go that way. Seeing a little hill and being unable to climb it is a bit silly.

i can only hope that they realize the barriers are [censored], and take them out in a patch or somehing. i spent ages trying to get a great kahn outpost or something only to be stopped by what appears to be nothing.
