Oh, by the way, am I the only one who doesn't get the desire to murder NPCs willy-nilly? Maybe it's because I RP, but seeing people kill off characters for snide remarks seems incredibly harsh and brutal to me.
I feel the same (and don't find psychotic or unnecessarily cruel characters appealing), but I think it's that most players simply don't roleplay at all; their characters have no sense of being beyond what the players want to get/fight/succeed at in the video game.
But yes, the TES series and Skyrim especially seems to be full of dangerously rude, arrogant, and insanely brave NPCs. It wouldn't be a problem... if there were thousands of NPCs in the world rather than a few hundred.
