Too many [censored] NPC's in Skyrim?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 3:23 am

Just want to know if I'm the only one who thinks Skyrim NPC's are really unkind and rude. It annoys me quite a bit, especially because you can't kill the majority of them. What do you think?

I really hate that kid in riverwood... the one that always says not to get on his bad side...

I must admit I've found some NPCs (the appalling kids in particular) so irritating I've actually resorted to disabling them so I don't have to see or hear them any longer. I don't think I've ever had to do that before. Well, there was some shenanigans trying to avoid Glarthir in Oblivion, but apart from that...

Sounds like a good idea. Haven't though of that. Sounds like the "Now get out of my face" got a new meaning. :)

Only the children. Oh, by the way, am I the only one who doesn't get the desire to murder NPCs willy-nilly? Maybe it's because I RP, but seeing people kill off characters for snide remarks seems incredibly harsh and brutal to me.

I viewed that as more an expression of frustration: even where the objectionable NPCs in question are killable, that doesn't fit my RP, which is part of the reason why I mentioned disabling them instead. They've gone on a long holiday. Somewhere. Anywhere: don't care, as long as it's far away from me...

I feel the same (and don't find psychotic or unnecessarily cruel characters appealing), but I think it's that most players simply don't roleplay at all; their characters have no sense of being beyond what the players want to get/fight/succeed at in the video game.

But yes, the TES series and Skyrim especially seems to be full of dangerously rude, arrogant, and insanely brave NPCs. It wouldn't be a problem... if there were thousands of NPCs in the world rather than a few hundred.
