top five favorite tamrielic artifacts

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:54 pm

1-Trueflame/Hopesfire
they are both great weapons, and my two favorite. trueflame's max hit is higher than hopesfire's, but hopesfire's minimum hit is higher than trueflame's. they both do elemental damages of 30, but trueflame has fire damage and hopesfire has shock damage. Apperantly, on the day that Almalexia and Nerevar were wed (yes, they were married.), the dwarf-king Dumac presented them both with twin blades: trueflame, and hopesfire. trueflame can hit a maximum of 105, and hopesfire can hit a maximum of 100. they are the only weapons in the series that had elemental auras (i.e. the flame on trueflame and the...er...shock-thingy on hopesfire).

2-Staff of Magnus
One of the Elder Artifacts in Tamriel, It is in all of the Elder Scrolls games except Oblivion (that i know of, anyway) and is a very good staff for wizards. Magnus trusted the Staff to the blades just before he died. the map was somewhere in elsweyr, and the eternal champion found it in valenwood. later, it was in possession of the daggerfall hero after he/she did a quest for the iliac bay knights guild. and finally, in morrowind, in which ajira, a member of the mages guild, told the nerevarine the whereabouts of the staff.

3-Daedric Scourge/Crescent Blade
Lots of mysteries behind these artifacts. After the Battlespire incident, it was reported that all the Daedric Battlespire weapons were destroyed, but 2 survived. The daedric scourge and daedric crescent blade. how did they survive? how did divayth fyr get his hands on these? are there more survivors? Is Divayth Fyr the Hero of the Battlespire?

4-Amulet of Kings

This is an interesting artifact, and THE oldest in tamriel. its just very interesting how the emperors soul's are actually connected with the gods (i.e. lorkhan) that created Mundus. and that the elder council can know instantly when the emperor dies.

5-Fang of Haynekhtnamet

I like this artifact because in my opinion, there isn't much history out there about the Black Marsh and the Argonians. The history about how mighty the "wamasus" were is an interisting bit to me. (apperantly, it took 7 days and nights and a score of men to kill Haynekhtnamet, according to http://www.imperial-library.info/artifacts/index2.shtml) one of the men took a fang, and fashioned a dagger out of it. Plus, it is one of the most powerful daggers in tamriel, as you can score damages of 70 with it. chrysamere's base damage is 70.

This ain't lore. But I'll try not to be so pissy in this thread and I'll answer it, to some degree.

I'll agree with you on Trueflame, but moreso for its metaphysical-somewhat religious implications. It's a flaming sword, so there you go.

no, its not. this is elderscrolls general, since artifacts can be found in the games and their status as favorites has more to do with gameplay than it does with their origin and lorical purpose.

ok i guess ill have to agree with both of you...but favorites can be about your opinion of the history behind some of the artifacts, or some of the characters in its history (for example: the staff of magnus. i dont like the staff in the game, but it's history is neat, and you can't find magnus in any of the games. plus, some artifacts, such as fearstruck, the flask of lillandril, and the elder scrolls themselves cannot be found in any of the games, unless it were to be modded. so it is partly lore. i just tried to put this thread where i thought it should go, but jeez...everybody has to get so litteral and say "its in the wrong topic". i think most people try to put it in the right topic, etc. so lets not argue about whether or not this is lore, and get back to the topic, shall we?

1. Wabbajack. The sheer Sheoggy silliness of this weapon appeals to me greatly, both as concept and in the game.

2. Mehrunes Razor. Every universe needs a 'touch-em-and-deys-dead' Blade of Instant Death, even if only in the lore and not the game.

3. The Elder Scrolls. If they count.

4. Muatra. This time it's personal.

5. Numidium. Big stompy transtemporal Talosmech made of magic brass and Dwemer (themselves the coolest of all races).

hm, what the hell. i like the elderscrolls as well, though i am very dissapointed as to how they were handled in oblivion. theres a ton of cool behind them, and its not just an uber weapon but a mysterious force. the Tools are damn nifty too. number 1 is definitely muatra however, thats one artifact i would not mind getting impaled on...

Hm, I'll interpret "tamrielic artifact" as an item that I as a human(oid) being living on Tamriel would actually have a chance to get my hands on... which I'm not to keen on concerning Muatra... so...

1. Keening - It's beautifully crafted and combines technology with magic. I guess. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's somehow steam powered or something like that  And that makes it unique among the unique artifacts, in my opinion.

2. Spell Breaker - Well, I actually like that one because it shares its name with my favorite artifact of all fantasy worlds, namely the Spell Breaker from the Vlad Taltos novels.

3. Mehrunes Razor - I love the story of it "playing a role" in an internal power struggle of the Dark Brotherhood... there are many artifacts that seem to have a will of its own, but none of them ever "did" something like this. :)

Can't think of any other artifacts that really struck me as unique and interesting. The Elder Scrolls are cool, sure, but I guess I've already grown accustomed to them. And the Amulet of Kings IS probably a really cool artifact, but in Oblivion it looked really cheap, that kinda ruined it for me... together with the fact that I carry it around all the time because I haven't followed the Main Quest yet.
