Top 3 Perks?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:43 pm

So, I must admit, I'm a little late to the party in looking at the perk chart etc.

Played Skyrim/FO3/FO:NV and I really like the direction that the game is going. Having looked at the perk chart there's some really interesting perks on there which has made me completely re-think what stats I'm going to invest in!

So, for you, what type of build are you looking to create and what are your TOP 3 perks you're looking forward to.

For me it has to be.

* Wasteland Whisperer (Charisma)

* Solar Powered (Endurance)

* Robots Expert (Intelligence)

I'd imagine I'm going to be a more sneak based character that uses others to do my dirty work for me!

Top 3 perks for my first build will be Lockpick, Hacker and Stealth.

Top 3 perks I'm excited to try.. Penetrator, Ninja, Aquaboy. (breath underwater? Yeah I want to breath underwater.. Pass me those gills!)

For me it must be the crafting perks. I am sure the game can be completed with a companion without significant weapon perks.

HERE COMES THE PAIN TRAIN!

Seriously. At max level, the large creature restriction no longer appears. Main character is definitely going to be a Power Armor melee character.

Yeah.. it's going to be hard to resist wanting to jump right into crafting but I know I'm going to need some other perks first just for survival. Although I know what perks I want, and I know what I'll feasibly be able to do.. I have no clue in what order to take them. Lockpick and Hacking seem vital to me but really I'll only be able to take them when the level allows to do so. So that's actually a relief... rather than having to do nothing but pump points into a skill. I'll be able to work on other perks and stats without concern.

Right now I'm going to say Local Leader, Commando and Gun Nut, but I'm sure gameplay will change those priorities really quickly. I don't really have enough information about the relative value of the perks at this point in time. If this was New Vegas, Adamantium Skeleton rank 3 would be in the top three, for example, but I doubt dealing with crippled limbs will be that big a pain in Fallout 4.

Locksmith, hacker, and auqaboy. Reasoning being is self-explanatory for the first two for obvious reasons. I think aquaboy will be not only a top perk but flat out a nesscesity since a small chunk of the map is water heavy. With hope that the waters contain an admirable amount of loot that is, which I believe there will be since the amount of water on the map would be such a waste of explorable content, that could of been.

For my first build:

Science! (Intelligence)

Rifleman (Perception) or Commando (Agility)

Nuclear Physicist (Intelligence)

My first character is going to rock a suit of Power Armor and the most powerful laser weapons I can build.

For my second build:

Gunslinger (Agility)

Lady Killer (Charisma)

Party Boy (Charisma)

My second character is going to be a sort of James Bond-esque spy who fights with a suppressed pistol, rocks an armored tuxedo, womanizes, and drinks.

From the perk list, I made a little rating for myself, not sure if it will hold true once I get in game, but it should be reasonably correct. I only considered perks I could get out of the gate without having to spend level ups on improving special stats.

Ranking is in order of priority from lvl 2 and onward.

Tier 1

Gunslinger-you will probably start with a 10mm pistol, and I plan on playing on a rather hard difficulty so damage asap seems reasonable

Sneak-Don't want to get shot if I can help it.

Gun nut-Modifying weapons sounds awesome and I can't wait to get in to it

Tier 2 (in order of left to right on perk chart)

Armorer

Medic

Tier 3

Lockpick

Toughness

Scrapper

Commando

Ninja

Tier 4

Awareness - might have to re-evaluate this one, unclear how good it will be

Better criticals as usual although I am surprised it gives you + 50% crit damage for the first rank, maybe a bit op but I'll wait and see what the other ranks give. Ninja looks interesting as well, wouldn't be surprised if the final rank let you auto kill certain enemies with a sneak attack

The 3 MOST important early are:

Lock picking
Hacking
Scrounger

Early in the game this gives access to caps, locked up equipment, and much more. While they are not exciting perks they always help me early in fallout games :)

Ok top 3 is t exactly fair because while some perks look interesting(or just untested)they are not always the most useful. So I'll do both.

Top 3 interesting perks
Intimidator
Attack dog
Lone wanderer

Top 3 most useful
Adamantium skeleton
Rifleman(or whatever perks is associated with chosen form of combat)
Strong back

I think if you are going for a ranged build, Rifleman + Sneak + Ninja will be godly (Imagine 2x damage from rifleman and 3.5x damage from sneak for a 7x damage multiplier on a sniper).

However, a shishkebab build with Big leagues, Blitz and Moving Target maxed out would be just as ridiculous (Sprinting Damage resistance, Bonus melee damage and Double damage on your sword!)

The charisma tree is going to be super powerful this time around. However, I've heard some rumblings that it's super annoying. Apparently the PC says something to calm the target down once you get the intimidation/wasteland whisperer perk. Fine in concept, until you get into a room full of enemies, aim down your sights, and start blurting out the same line twenty times.

However, my top 3 for now will be nerd rage, ricochet, and the tier 9 int perk.
