Completely off topic but this is about the plasma defender (and other energy weapons:

Why is there recoil? I mean it's a laser/plasma weapon....

Shouldn't it not have any recoil at all?

well lasers have little to no recoil (at least some of them don't, like the RCW), but idk how plasma works. i think plasma is like a burning gas-type things, so... idk, lol

Laser is light, should be no more recoil than lighting a flashlight. Plasma, though, is ionized gas. Dunno how much of a kick that would give.

Would've been interesting to see your choices with hardcoe mode on.

Very nice selection, i agree for the most part. Would have included the Hunting Revolver myself.

I don't use hunting revolvers that much, lol. maybe it's because back in the day .45-70s were hard to come by so i instinctively stay away that weapon, lol

well idk, i just for some reason don't use .45-70 weapons that often, maybe because my #1 pick is so awesome and easy to supply

But the Hunting Revolver is the tool for all times, it does everything except deal out DPS, but it is great for all ranges on single targets. I carry a Hunting Revolver and a Flamer, so i am always prepared.

heh, i never use a flamer, i find the heavy incinerator to be better because it is easier to conserve ammo

on a side note, i think there should be more weapons that uses fuel, maybe re-introduce the shishkabab and make it so it can only stay aflame while using 1 fuel a second

the fat man isn't on there because imo the ammo is too rare and it is too situational. also you really shouldn't use it indoors

Good list. This Machine, YCS/186 and Plasma Caster are a must.

BAH, HE 25MM Grenades and the GMG > ALL. Not even remotely close for the number one spot. And no Brush Gun? The ultimate gun? This machine and YCS is are nice and all. But go take on a 5+ Death Claws. Only one gun will get you through that - the GMG.

The Brush Gun is powerful and it scares me when an NCR Ranger has one, but i don't like it's reload speed.

And i've never made an explosives character so i really don't have much experience with the grenade machine gun. also, you can't really fight things at close range with it. (though i think there is a perk that helps with this)

Reload speed on the Brush Gun does not matter. Nothing will be alive after 7 shots to the head from it! Nothing! Seven Shots from the brush gun > 24 shots from All American

As for the GMG, It svcks close range, unless you laugh when Vericona runs in and gets blown to pieces. Hey, have to take one for the team! But it is truly a beast of a gun. A must have experience in FNV is too take Quarry Junction with 100 Explosives, Demo Expert 3 and the GMG with HE. Play the terminator music in the background! No sneaking, no vats, no head shots. Just kick butt.

LOL, you can run around and try to Chuck Norris with the Ballistic Fist. But the GMG will turn Chuck into good ole Meow Mix!

hmm, i just remembered that the cowboy perk affects it as well... if i remake the list after all the dlc comes out it would probably make it on the list (of course only if the dlc weapons aren't super awesome)

i've never gotten the cowboy perk either so that would help my decision about it

Completely off topic but this is about the plasma defender (and other energy weapons:

Shouldn't it not have any recoil at all?

I always thought it was some kind of round engulfed in plasma. At least thats how it felt.

Stil a nice gun, physics a side.

Only thing a really disagree in the list is the light machine gun.

well the LMG is great against Cazadors or any other no/lightly armored enemy

same as the Laser RCW, except the laser rcw is more accurate, which may actually make it worse against cazadors

The LMG is so terribly inaccurate. Automatic weapons aren't good at all in NV, I wouldn't suggest using them. If you have FPS experience or know how to make good use of VATS (through perks, high Agility etc.), then Semi-Autos and generally lower DPS weapons will be much better.
EDIT: I'll add my list
This Machine
Brush Gun
Anti-Materiel Rifle
YCS/186
Dinner Bell
Scoped Trail Carbine
Silenced Sniper Rifle
Plasma Caster
Oh, Baby!
Ballistic Fist
The last two are great weapons, but a skilled Guns user will be able to decimate a Melee/Unarmed user before they can close the distance. With the appropriate skill, however, they are both amazing weapons in CQB situations.

Well i put the Balistic fist on there because it is a great unarmed weapon even with my paltry unarmed skill of 10

so it lets me fight unarmed if i want/need to even if i have a low skill (though a holdout weapon might be better since that is the only time you will really "need" unarmed when not specialized as it)
