Top 5 Things You Hope For

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:42 am

Top 5 things well I only have one main thing that I'm hoping for which is Number 1. but I'll try to come up with 5.

1. True Customization of the Character Model, That would be my dream with this new engine the ability to morph your character. Make him or her as skinny or as Fat as possible without being completely unrealistic.

2. No Level Scaled Quest Rewards, Lets face it if you complete a quest you should get the same reward at level 1 or level 30. I hated that in Oblivion. Level scaling wasn't a problem for me but I thought it was overdone to a degree and the quest rewards shouldn't have been Leveled Scaled.

3. More Choices when doing a quest, Basically I want more choices in a quest like in Oblivion if I wanted to side with the Sirens in Anvil and I'm playing a female character I should be able to choose which group I want to side with.

4. Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild, Please by Azura's name bring those groups back in Skyrim. Easily my 2 favorite guilds bar none.

5. Better Looking Female Vampires and have Vampires included in Skyrim, This was a huge Pet Peeve of mine. I hated how the Female Vampires looked like a man in Oblivion and if Vampires are in Skyrim I would want the Females to look Hot but not like how they looked in Oblivion.

-Overhauled magic with more effects and an overall deeper feel
-No bloated HP at high levels (cutting a goblin with umbra for 2 and a half minutes gets a little monotonous)
-Alot more items
-No one best weapon (I'm looking at you Umbra in Oblivion. No weapon was ever better than that. . .)
-More character equipment slots (with more modular armor)

I LOVE enchanting so

1) i want to see soul gems that arnt labeled as Petty, Grand, ect, but where it puts what i killed, it level, and all that into a formula to tell me how strong its soul is. the adoring fans soul is NOT as powerful as a xilvi.

2) i want to ride a dragon at some point. maybe a COMMAND CREATURE 120 SEC spell will let me http://static.zenimax.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/hubbahubba.gif

3) the kids better not be essential. that ruined fallout for me. i cant kill a town and the kids miraculously survive and kill me. no.

4) Pets. a dog, a troll, something. they could be fun.

5) I want to see packs of animals. not 1 wolf, a pack, not a lone mammoth, a herd. that would be awesome. if it works for dears why not other animals?

oh, and.. ehm... SPEARS, CROSSBOW, THROWING KNIFES, LEVITATION, AND MARK RECALL, LOL
we get it. we all miss them.

my super needs of skyrim are: 1. The ability to become a lich
2. A guild of necromancers to join and necromancy spells and the ability to convert bones into permanent, commandable minions
3. Dark shaggy robes and hood (like the ring wraiths of the lord of the rings)
4. wearable pauldrons and single or duel gauntlets option
5. A dark necromancers lair similar to benirus manor with the same door, only much more vast and remote, in a long forgotten graveyard mausoleum.

1. Rare items to be found everywhere, and not just unique versions of generic weapons that have a bit higher damage like in Fallout. I mean like Daedric armor and stuff.
2. Useful bows.
3. Shadows casted by EVERYTHING.
4. Better animations.
5. Interesting landscape/dungeons/cities.

1. Only played Oblivion, going to play Morrowind soon, anyway, in Oblivion most quests were linear with little choices to make. So I don't really care if it's only black and white choices, be evil, neutral (greedy) or good, as long as there are more ways to complete a quest than one.

2. World reaction, if I'm a mage, thief, warrior, hybrid, I want the world to react to that, maybe some guy is afraid of mages cause a necromancer once killed his wife. And race reaction, I want bigotry, I want racism, I want some people to absolutely despise argonians or think that Bosmers are little disgusting half-lings. It's more realistic that way.

3. The items of the world, I loved how in FO3 and NV there were unique items with their owns stats, what I disliked in Oblivion was that almost every item were scaled to something, even unique items only attainable by quests. Have a crypt that is really high level and you simply can't get this really powerful bow down there unless you're mid-level to high level.

4. AI, enemy sees me, runs straight towards me, the end... How about switching it up a bit? If there are 4 hostile humanoids then say two of them have bows and stands from a far while the melee characters try to flank me? And how about animals and creatures no matter if they're demons or whatever, that if they are too injured, they flee.
I want more realistic reactions from hostile AI.

5. Oh it was nice that most people in Oblivion was named, suuure, but it was also annoying as hell to find 10 people in the same area with the same dialogue only with different voices. If an NPC is named then have a reason for him/her/it being named, maybe they give a quest, maybe they finish a quest, maybe they're involved in quest, maybe they have a different service, maybe they have unique dialogue that can give clues to a specific area/person/town/enemy/spell/shop/quest.

This probably isn't my "top 5" but they are the first 5 things I came to think of.

1. A crap ton of decently challenging things to do after the main quest, hopefully the randomly generated quests will take care of this.
2. An option to have healing effects cease being instant and instead give their benefits over time like in FO:NV's hardcoe mode.
3. Factions and the ability to burn my bridges.
4. A lack of ways to instantly get richer than god, see: Morrowind after you find your first few enchanted item worth 5 bazillion gold each.
5. Fighters, Mages, Rogues and hybrids are equally balanced. Have equal opportunities to complete quests in their own distinct ways, and have equal in-game resources and and dedicated facilities and game mechanism.

And since I'm a dirty cheater, 6. Multiplayer

1 - Creative and original game world
2 - Good lore(Not gods and creation lore, but things about Skyrim that make it more developed and interesting)
3 - Mainquest that isn't as urgent and annoying as in Oblivion
4 - Good mechanics for flying creatures and for moving in terrain
5 - Werevultures(I'm serious! )

1. Layered clothing, like in Morrowind.

2. No mini-games for abilities. Oblivion's mini-games for lockpicking and speechcraft made the actual skills for them USELESS! Just good player skill and a single lock-pick with 0 lock-picking skill is all you need to open any locked item in the game.

3. Flying/Super-High Jumping. I loved duplicating those scrolls you find in Morrowind that set your acrobatics skill to 1000 for 1 second and jumping all the way across the island, then needing to cast the spell again right before I hit the ground or I would die.

4. Good combat system. This sounds like it is in the bag from the GI article, but then again, they said Oblivions was more robust than Morrowind's and, while it was a BIT better, it was still basically the same.

5. Full PC dialogue options and not just single word topics.

And the overall top hope for the game that doesn't even need to be numbered: A STABLE VISUAL ENGINE! I don't want to have to wait almost a year after the game's released to be able to play it because it's sluggish or crashes all the time.

1. Dynamic environment (new structures created, old structures destroyed. Terrestrial malleability)
2. Spears and other polearms (the primary weapons for most armies throughout time before firearms)
3. More varied and high fantasy architecture (Morrowind was perfect. It had mushroom houses, hollowed out shells, all sorts of more modern designs)
4. Remove the per-level cap for skill training (Tired of grinding in successive playthroughs)
5. Varied and unique environments (Oblivion's "dungeons" seemed lacking compared to Morrowind)

1. Beast races with digitigrade feet
2. More hair for beast races
3. Different tail types (Long, short, fluffy, short AND fluffy...and for you scum swimmers, spikes maybe? :D )
4. Unique facial features (I want saber teeth dammit.)
5. A better stealth system

You can tell what types of characters I play, can't you?

1) More inter-faction politics. Doing tasks for one faction may mean that another faction will never accept you (and may attack at sight, at least if there are no guards around). I haven't tried New Vegas yet but apparently this works well in that game.

2) More in-game background information about the history and current situation of each city / faction / whatever. Books, dialogue topics, situations acted out in real time (for example an argument between two NPCs from competing factions). Morrowind did this well, to a certain extent, although mostly just through text, not scripted sequences.

3) Better dialogue. More dialogue options for the player, some of which are based on skill checks. Varied responses. Fallout 3 did this well in principle, although the actual dialoge was not always that well-written. Still, it was worlds better than Oblivion.

4) Characters with different skills should play differently. This means, among other things, that skill-related minigames have to go, or at least have a minimum level of the skill to be allowed to start the minigame. This was in Fallout 3, and worked fine, although I would prefer if they just removed the minigame altogether and have a success/failiure animation.

5) A living world that does not revolve around the player. Travellers on the roads defending themselves from raiding parties, different groups of enemies fighting each other, etc. Mods like Mart's Monster Mod for Oblivion (and Mutant Mod for FO3) do this excellently, but slow the old games down quite a bit. The game engine should be able to handle many NPCs on-screen without too much slowdown.
