AK-47

I voted no just because you specified AK-47.

I wouldn't mind seeing a newer AK variant. But just because there will alot of the 47 varient in the current world they are still being replaced by newer variants.

Yes to a AK weapon but no to the 47-model.

And the Type 56 is pretty much a chinese copy of the AK-47.

If the AK-47 is in, whether it looks exactly like it or just reminds heavily of one, it should be named something like "Russian Assault Rifle".

But you must remember: The Chinese Assault Rifle in FO3 doesn't look exactly like a Type 56 either.

UGGGHHH. There already is it's the chinese assault rifle, that is not the same version of the ak47 but it is based on it.. Maybe just rename it the Russian Assault Rifle and then it would be all good. But no "AK-47" just have that as a nickname or w/e

What about the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/AK-112_Assault_Rifle which is a fictional AK in Fallout 1 and 2, though it's based on the AK-100 series. But still, it's fictional!

its the most surplus weapon in the world, its been like that since the 70's and russia updated it in the 1978 if i am correct to the more modern AK74.... which is just as accurate as most other modern rifles however the reason it looks largley like a AK47 because of the image the AK has had and the russians suprisingly took this as a major point when designing their new rifle.

The chinese rifle if like in real life is probably jus a knock off, so not anywhere near as good as the origional, seeing that the great war was about 120 years after the AK47 was origionally released i personally would like to see the AK74 tho im not fussed if the AK47 pops up instead

AK-47 means licensing fees, so it for sure wont be in. The best they can do is make a gun the looks like it, like the Chinese Assault Rifle in Fallout 3. Then again, they've already confirmed the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Military_Assault_Rifle... It depends on if the guns will be different enough in functionality to warrant making another one (or maybe they'll make an AK-47 look alike just for kicks).

AK-47 means licensing fees,

Wat.

No, I feel that in the HUNDREDS OF YEARS since the AK was introduced a made up future gun from the FO companies would have replaced it by the time of the great war. I generally say NO to real world weapons.

Well the war happened in 2077.

That's about 130 years.

People still use 1911s or at least clones based on the design after over 100 years of service. And don't forget the AK has new models being built all the time. We already had an AK-like weapon in the CAR. An AK would probably have been something imported from Russia, perhaps for civilian ownership. Remember that Russia and America were on good terms.

Well, first of all, the Type 56 is an AK clone. The type 56 IS in the AK family.
Secondly, the Chinese AR is kind of an AK, but not quite. It has many aspects of different guns. The stock, for example, is reminiscent of the AS VAL.
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as10-e.htm
Not exactly an AK pattern rifle, but like many Russian weapons, it draws aesthetic inspiration from the AK despite departures in internal design. The gas tube arrangement reminds me of a Galil or An-94. The handguard is very similar to an RPD.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPD

And it is definitely from China, the game makes that very clear, why would you think it isn't?

i ment when other countries make their guns they either use the more common AK pattern AK's or the chinese model AK's now how can you tell by jus looking at the chinese assualy rifle you can tell if not a chinese model, and its a small and unimportant detail, but its there none the less.

How exactly do you guy's get off comparing this game to those games? Is it real life gun's or something else? What exactly is the point of naming it something else for that matter?

Beth and Obsidian can make whatever they want. I would prefer they use real life gun's (and names) because I dont think that they need to waste time thinking up both energy weapons and small arms.

Oh and their are many gun's from both of those game's in previous fallout games.

Desert Eagle .44
.44 M29 Revolver
Red Ryder bb gun
Ithaca Model 37
AK47 (In a previous fallout game already. Btw do you have any idea what that 47 means it fit's the canon, the 47 is the year it was designed for the Russian military)
FN FAL
M-14
FN p90 (Think it was called H&K p90 in fallout, thought in the real world I dont think H&K had anything to do with it's creation.)
MP5 H&K

And a few others, I dont feel like listing them all. A few of those gun's were made after 1950's too.

Fully enclosed sight protector. AK series guns fro the most part have half enclosed front sights, while the Chinese variants used a fully enclosed front sight. Here's the complete list of differences from Wikipedia:

The Type 56 has a 1.5mm stamped receiver versus the 1mm stamping of the AKM.
The barrel on the Type 56 is similar to the AK-47 and heavier than that of the AKM.
The front sights are fully enclosed compared to the AKM and AK-47 which are partially opened.
Has the double hook disconnector of the AK-47 unlike the single hook disconnector of the AKM.
Has a smooth dust cover like the AK-47; unlike the ribbed dust cover of the AKM.
May have a folding spike bayonet (nicknamed the "pig sticker") as opposed to the detachable knife bayonets of the AK-47 and AKM.
Most Type 56's do not have the threaded muzzle found on the AK-47 and AKM.
Has a blued finish like the AK-47 unlike the AKM which has a black oxide finish or a parkerized finish.
Like the AK-47, the sights will adjust to 800 metres, where the AKM's will adjust to 1000 metres.
Most Type 56's lack the side scope mount the AKM has.

currect! major kudo's to .46ACP, the chinese assualt rifle in the game seems to have been modelled on the russian model not the chinese one, all they would need to do really is a name swap

I don't get the hype for the AK47. It's a compromising design.

How is it compromising? Well for one thing, it IS very reliable due to it's low tolerance design. The fact of the matter is, it was designed to be made in mass numbers by an illiterate poor person with no schooling, because of that it is very cheap to manufacture and easy to manufacture in big numbers. The major downside of the design is that it is NOT an accurate gun by any means. Far from it, it was not meant for a crack team of special force soldiers to use ammo sparingly while doing their objective. It was meant to supply the thousands and thousands of Russian soldiers with means of throwing bullets down range at the opposing forces. When those guys die, just throw a few more thousand soldiers with AK47's to the firing line.

Just about the only thing I like about the AK47 is the 7.62x39 it shoots, but I can get that round in a Ruger Mini-30, which overall is a much better gun with it's design as derivative of the M14.

I still don't see the problem of a generic "Assault Rifle" weapon. Is it just the appeal of wielding a speific model?

I like that weapon to come back as well, but why can't we have both?

I would like an AK-47 even if it was just a unique weapon. It could be in some old bunker or museum. Showing the early models leading up to the AK-112.

It was in tactics. Tactics has a good mix of real world weapons and future fallout weapons and many of the classic fallout weapons as well. More people should play it.

Too add to it, I think credit is due, someone most likely though up that gun (if it's small arm's) before it went into fallout. Taking it and putting it in the game without calling it what it is - is kind of like ripping it off.

This is exactly true. Back in my Marine days, we often shot the "other guys'" weapons, familiarization fire so we would learn what they sound like and how to shoot them if we had to. I can easily put a 5.56mm round from a slap worn out recruit M-16A1 in a 12 in bullseye 10 out of 10 times at 500 meters. The times I shot the AK series rifles, I was less than impressed with the accuracy. I had difficulty shooting close groups even at 300 meters. But that's just the trade off for the design ideal of a very rugged and easy to manufacture weapon. They're just very different guns.

And as for the chinese/russian debate, the Type 56 at the beginning was an EXACT copy of the AK-47. So the only real question is: Is the in game gun "chinese assualt rifle" a modified type-56 (the type 56-I was the fodling stock version, but in 7.62 while the type 84-S IS in 5.56, but I'm not sure if it was available with a folding stock) or just some construct of mind that the devs felt the PLA would have developed by 2077?

Also, for what it's worth, most of these "AK-47"s that we see in the world are really AKMs. You can tell by the slanted muzzle brake on the AKM.

Well there isn't a AK-112 (yet) but there is a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-107. There's the AK-108 also which is basically another version of the AK-107 but chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO.

Yes, chinese copy. Still not the AK-47. No copy is an improvement in my opinion.

That's just not how this works. Just because they made an exact copy doesn't mean it can't be made to standards at lease as good as the original. And the Chinese also improved the design. So did the Soviets. That would be the AKM. Or AK-74. Is a real nice Kimber .45 of today really worse than an original colt M1911? Ask around, see what people say about that.
