I don't know if I'm alone on this, but the way I see it, the AK-47 could survive the apocalypses as well as anything else, and I strongly feel that it should be implemented into New Vegas. Anybody want to back me up or shoot me down?

Keep in mind that the AK was invented before whatever event split our universe apart from the fallout universe in the 50's. So it's not that big of a stretch.

well they technically did in F3 with the chinese assault rifle but i'm all for correctly naming and modelling it (if thats what you mean).

Please don't even go there, I've said so many times and am getting sick of people comparing the two. Chinese assault rifle = different gun all together, end of story.

that is true the ak 47 uses 7.62x39mm which does WAY more damage than a chinese assualt rifle. also the AK-47 is one of the most durable weapons in the world and can survive being buried under rubble dipped in mud etc. and still work just fine. i think it would fit perfectly in fallout as it is a weapon made at the time split of fallouts story. :ninja: :gun:

Yes, it should definitely be implemented, as you guys have said, it's extremely durable. Not to mention the AK is totally badass.

its america -> japan war and AK47 is russian weapon so it doesnt fit into the fallout universe :\ (correct me if i'm wrong but russians have no role in fallout's storyline)

If there's one thing that's been proven about the AK, it's that you can get it anywhere.

And Russa is not mentioned alot, no. Some info about them in the Museum of Technology, and one of the starting characters in Fallout 1 was the grand child of a russian ambassador. From what I've heard, Russia were friendly towards USA by the time of the war. Not much info about them otherwise, but that doesn't stop Obsidian or Bethesda from adding something russian?

Dukov is russian. He couldn't have been born and raised in the US, the dialect wouldn't remain for 200 years, so he probably came to USA by himself like Moriarty and Tennpenny.

Just because they had no major role doesn't mean they haven't developed any weapons. Plus the AK was designed and built in 1947 so it fit's the date. Lastly the AK is so durable that you can bury it in the sand for 10 years comeback with a hammer, bust the rust off, load a mag and go on shoot, take it home throw it in a locker leave it there for a few months take it out hit the slide with a hammer load a mag and go on shooting lol. -not an exaggeration.

If any gun could have survived in the fallout uni the AK would have for sure.

I wouldn't call it the best, just 1 of the most reliable. That's why all the terrorist you them, that and in other countries they are a dime a dozen lol.

As for balance they could do it the same way they did with the Chinese, more damage less accurate. (Which happens to be true, after 3 shots on full auto it's not worth trying to aim lol.)

Best is a relative term. One thing we can all agree on is that it's a pretty damn good rifle.

AK-47 means licensing fees, so it for sure wont be in. The best they can do is make a gun the looks like it, like the Chinese Assault Rifle in Fallout 3. Then again, they've already confirmed the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Military_Assault_Rifle... It depends on if the guns will be different enough in functionality to warrant making another one (or maybe they'll make an AK-47 look alike just for kicks).

AK-47 was in tactics I would like it in New Vegas. It can be called something else but I am sure if the makers of the game just asked the gun makers they would say yes. Many Gun makers would pay the Game makers to put real world names in the games.

The AK-47 and other real world gun names were used in Tactics and they never got sued. I am sure the devs can use it as long as they ask first.

The Chinese Assault Rifle in Fallout 3 is nothing like the AK-47. It is more similar to a Type 56, iirc.

Anyway, I would really like an accurate(as in accurately resembles the real gun) and awesome AK-47 in this game.

And the Type 56 is pretty much a chinese copy of the AK-47.


If the AK-47 is in, whether it looks exactly like it or just reminds heavily of one, it should be named something like "Russian Assault Rifle".
