Very sweet project and screenies shown here, Mireneye.
I just downloaded the alpha, but can't test it until I've solved an MGE problem I have with Windows 7.

Very ellaborated landscape meshes and textures, really. I love crystals and blue herbs :)
Hope to have a lovely sylvin house in Kinscavion :D I love modding houses and that materials are more than inspiring :)

Answer:
Thank you =) Good luck with solving your Windows 7, mge issue, I have MGE running on Windows 7 as well so I'm sure it's possible =)
Testing will definitely be needed, It'd be nice to resolve most issues before moving on.

Thanks, it means a lot to hear that since it is one of my main goals to archive during the project.
Then I hope the forthcoming architecture of Sylvin will satisfy your house making =)

Update:
Due south of Sylvin there's a mountain range that separates Sylvin from the wild, unexplored swamps, note that these will most probably have their own crystal-like flora so they also will look and feel unique. Eventually this area shall also be overgrown with trees etc, seemingly looking as if the swamp is trying to claim half the mountain range for itself.

Mostly new textures, and some meshes used in different ways.

As for Sylvin while I have no visual updates I can say that it's coming along nicely. I've made a bunch of new meshes since the valley shot and I have improved textures a lot!

Cheers =)

I think that small green mountain thing could do with some better textures for it's shape. Or a better shape for it's texture. :)

Yeah, new crystals are a good idea, those crystals don't mix as well with this enviroment, perhaps something more earthy, or don't include crystals at all, unless integral to the game world.
I can't really tell what kind of crystal would fit... I'm sure you'll come up with something good though.

Also, the way those cliffs just come out of the grass is a litte jarring, though not much.
Other than that it looks and sounds like it's going to be just as interesting as the last area.

Thanks for the input, and you, good sir is just in time for an update, which pretty much fixes most of what you just said:
http://i41.tinypic.com/6h53cl.jpg

I ended up simply re-texturing the chrystals, added some location specific tree meshes with roots hanging down into the canyon and added yet another very small cliff mesh to the mix. The deal with the chrystals is very lore connected. I can not tell you for what tho, it's connected to one of the biggest mysteries in the game :P

What I intend to do for this area to seamlessly transition into a swamp is to submerge the land beyond this point, just below the water level and then I will edit and re-texture some more cliff meshes etc that will gradually look as if it's getting wetter and more swampy and as you approach the swamp you'll start to walk through some mist and then there will be lots of gnarly roots coming out of the water etc, it will hopefully look very cool =)

Thanks =)

I haven't had internet access for a while so I've missed a lot of updates. I am downloading the alpha release right now and I can't wait to try it out!!!

The new screens look amazing, especially those trees. The way they fit over that landscape so perfectly, organically, its astounding.

Keep up the good work! :goodjob: (you must be having fun making this, given all the updates you've been giving us ;))

Yeah, I'm having a blast =) But mostly I just enjoy showing everything new I make haha. And yeah, I think the valley/canyon areas should all have a few unique trees :P

The Alpha is quickly becoming a bit out-dated, but I still need some information. I realized from all the recent landscaping that all trees are too low down so I'm moving them up as I go. It's kind of a nice indication of which areas I have yet to touch haha. But yeah, what I need mostly from the alpha is for people to report their issues if they find any. Missing textures/meshes.. Any oddities with the landscape? Alpha testing etc.

Thanks =)

A bit of lore for you guys, this piece especially gives away some information on how Kinscavion connects to Hexagonica, and also adds yet another plane to the Omniflower.

Canvas of the lost
------------------

Whenever imagination does not manifest itself physically or practically it attaches to other forms of
existence. One of those forms of existence is called the "Canvas of the lost".

Attempts to describe the lands has been made but only a handful of them justifies it's beauty and it's horrors.

-It's like a painting, but always changing, strokes overlapping, concepts and styles mixing.
-It is the artistic counterpart of the mountain of minds.
-Madness, ingenious madness! a source of the childish and premature and the unfinished works of artists all over Hexagonica. If only we could harness it's greatness.

Another aspect that differentiates the Canvas from the Mountain of Minds is that it connects directly to the artists in a way that if an artist would die while working on something then his soul will be bound to that unfinished work of art.
Some of these "art golems" have been known to phase into other planes in Hexagonica.

More lore

(revising old character documents, 1st sketch)

Asanthus:
-the elegant and intelligent killer and philosopher.

In the midst of war of the in the Era of Na'virra, there were many families who lost their lives to the hordes of monstrosities that emerged from Duskveil.
Amongst the victims; a young man and his wife known for their vast knowledge and intelligence.

Before their untimely death the man who carried the name Iandimon Llandi. And the woman, Cazara Llandi imbued their last-born son with arcane tattoos and made them permanent by binding their own life force to the markings.
And so they passed on the "Words of creation" to their last-born and then proceeded to destroy all their research and all their books so that the enemy would not be able to use it to their advantage. They erased all tracks that they ever had offspring when in fact Asanthus(as the last born was named) had two older brothers.

The three were scattered across the land.

Asanthus was sent to the orphanage of Middlenight.
The eldest brother, was sent to Keltrock to wander the snowy mountains, and perhaps settle there.
The middle-aged brother was sent to Aeri but didn't make it over the mountain path. He died by the hand of the "Rinze-kin Guild" a guild of thieves and assassins who keep their feet in the gray shades of society, they hunt bounties but also steal for a living and have a nest, an abandoned castle in the eastern mountains.

Asanthus despised the Orphanage. Bullied because of his ways, odd to some but he did not understand their differences at the time. He amassed and read books in enormous quantities, especially about religion and the creation. He also studied the mysterious markings of his body however little did he know that some people in his surrounding knew what they meant. The observers did not want to bother because they knew Kin did not take kindly upon them for unraveling such celestial powers. And even tho most people could see what the markings implied; They did not know what effect it could eventually cause, it frightened them.

Years would pass, bullying turned into mental torment; Asanthus was no longer simply "odd" no they would not stop at that.. freak, that's what they called him. At this time one could perceive an increase in accidents surrounding him, people becoming sick or falling only to hurt themselves in grotesque painful ways.

One fateful night, he discovered the truth about the unique markings on his body. This led to the death of seven other orphans, the only thing left of them was ash and burnt cloth.

Asanthus denied any involvement in the incident but was cast out from the orphanage. Asanthus started to move in the circles of the underground of Middlenight. His inbound ability to seemingly control fire and fuse people by merely touching them caught the interest of several villainous groups. For several years he waited for the right opportunity and then finally the one group that could support his future research emerged.

An underground operation funded by the same people who rule over Middlenight offered him everything he needed, human bodies, creature specimen, and many other components.
Once his superior told him "Who cares about rules when administering justice?" to which Asanthus answered that only the ones living by the rules cares about them, justice is about making rules for others to abide to.

But in the end, all that Asanthus really cared about was his research.

Asanthus delved further then any had done before him, he realized that death was never the end, that death was also the beginning. He became obsessed with thought of being able to create things through deciphering the words written on his body and rework them into his own formulas. And eventually he succeeded. All the lived he had taken since early age had finally given birth to the beginning of the principles of Asanthus.

The Principles of Asanthus states that.

*Energy is constant and can not be destroyed, it can only move between states.
*Therefore everything was energy once.
*And everything can be turned into it.
*And that anyone who knows, can bend it to their will.

The markings written upon his body were "seals", they served to seal the energy of any living being into the body of the carrier. But the carrier can only hold as much as it's purity allows. This gave birth to the second part of the principle of Asanthus.

*Living creatures can store nine times their own capacity.
*Precious stones ( gems ) can store more then simple rocks.
*If you attempt to stored more then nine, the keeper will break and the original object will reshape.
*It's possible to extend capacity of a being or stone by dipping it into the sap of silver-top trees.

After a political conflict the operation was shut down. Asanthus became a wanted murderer, and now hides somewhere in Middlenight.

Thank you Midgetalien, this makes me a happy man =) I suppose one should expect something pretty polished after beating a dead horse for something like six years :P haha.

With that being said, if I would somehow end up not working on this any more in some time now here's a resource pack for anyone interested in the meshes and textures only:

Inserts Sad Clown Face

2shared just keeps giving me ad upon ad with no DL insight :(

Maybe 4shared would be better (perhaps); I've never had a problem
with that site (as it takes me straight to the DL without all the ads
and other internet fluff)...

I'd love to be able to see what you have made so far firsthand :D

Cheers!

use and easy to update (and I recommend it for any that
want to be able to house their mods in an alternate more
personal location :D ).

I look forward to being able to marvel at all the wonderful

C_Mireneye => your creations are so beautiful !!!

My heart failed to stop with the sight of your trees !!!!! :cold:

Your crystals give desire for being resold - I am sure that I will be able to obtain a handsome price from them in a magus - gniark gniark  :P

And on the other hand I noticed that your textures of window for the buildings have kinds of symbols above. It is desired?

p.s : sorry i'm a french player ^^

Well about 95% of the trees, textures and meshes are the work of Vurt, not I.

Finally I don't create things without reason, if you see something in a screenshot it's because I want you to see it. Usually. I don't quite know what you mean tho? which screenshot are you talking about?

No problem, mon ami =) (I'm not French, I just know a few words).
