V.A.T.S. comes in handy when I snipe with my Black Hawk.

It's very important especially with a laggy setup like mine.

Oh? Why isn't that ladylike? Maybe it depends on the type of lady you have in mind... :D

Besides the woman in Arefu(who just happens to be off her rocker anyhow!) I don't think there are any who can be considered dainty or housewifey.

My character likes to use VATS for relieving NPCs of their weapons. However, she usually manages to score several crits on the enemy NPCs in the process, so as a result, it's not uncommon for her to see a slowmo death scene.

Yeah, I use it when something catches me by surprise.

I don't use VATS much because I mainly use a Gatling Laser, completely useless with VATS.

I also think using the Gatling Laser takes away a bit of the fun of the game. Deathclaw's and Super Mutant Brutes/Overlords are too easy. I think I should put the GL away and use other weapons. Considering this is my first playthough. :l

Gatling Laser is a nice finishing move kill for Super Mutants, after using a far lighter weapon in VATS to disarm them.
Deathclaws and Giant Radscorpoins, thouugh, I like to give a serve of fresh hot MiniNuke from the Experimental MIRV.

Albino Radscorpions are annoying even with the Gatling Laser. Overlord's are annoying but Tri-Beam Lasers aren't too affective.

I use VATS at about 20 to 30 yards out. Other than that, I free hand it.

I use and abuse VATS because I play ranged characters (and techie characters, at that). It's just their personality. Sweet, innocent... well, appearances can be deceiving. :P

Having played FO3 for about 15 hrs now I'm not having much luck with VATS.
I thought It would be good for long range sniping but every time I used it it missed, but doing it myself has been much better, despite the sway
Maybe I missed cos I aimed for the head instread of the body

VATS is fantastic and does make life a lot easier. For close combat just keep an eye on the % number and in most cases it is better to exit VATS and then quickly target it again so the % goes up.
Sniping only gets easier later in the game when you are using the unique rifles and a heap of perks that makes head targeting easier.

What I hate when using VATS is when the enemy is right in my face(a Mirelurk after it "rushes" me) and all of the options read 0%. I have to exit VATS and either back up or change my angle before it reverts to regular numbers. I'm not sure why it does that.

I spam vats if I feel like I'm in an area where I feel like I'm being followed or there are enemies nearby.

I almost feel dirty using VATS. It's like cheating. Before any of you go saying "but they had it in Fallout 1 and 2" don't. Targeted Shot != VATS.

Meh, I definitely don't. It'd be like saying turning the difficulty slider down towards "easier" is cheating :P
