Of course they're fans. Why the heck else would they be here? That's why they are pushing the issue so that it will be addressed in Brink 2 since I'm told a DLC would be too complicated now. So why are you ppl hating on female gamers who want their voices to be heard then?Isn't the reason we are in this situation to begin with is because no one wanted to admit that there's a market for female FPS players? They want to show the devs that there is a market so let them already!

STOP saying "get over it". That is disrespecting another person's right to be heard.

Wishing things for Brink 2 when Brink 1 isn't even 2 weeks old is a sign of someone that is not satisfied, hence, not a fan of the game.

Not quite sure who's hating on female gamers, rather people are getting frustrated with people that don't bother to take the time to investigate why there aren't any women in the game, then start a post about it after it's been answered numerous times.

How is that disrespecting a person's right to be heard,Especially when it's been said over and over and over and over and over...? What's disrespectful is basically calling the devs out on something that they are not.Furthermore, how would you feel if you made a game, put out a slew of video interviews, and answered every question that people asked you,yet get asked the same questions that are easily available? One of the first things that I did when I joined this forum was read the FAQs.If more people would do that, then there would be no reason to tell someone to "get over it".It's like buying a Volkswagen Beetle and then complaining that it's not as fast as a Corvette.Either buy a Corvette,or GET OVER IT and be happy with the car you have.

Not really. The artistic style is much like that of TimeSplitters 2 and other games like Team Fortress. Females look just fine and can be implemented in the style...if you cant see it, then you have no imagination and are probably not very artistic in regards to thought processes. In fact, no females actually takes away from Brink's atmosphere and story greatly. "Guests" should include everyone being surpressed as well as Security which should be comprised of those willing to protect the Ark. Are there no females living on the Ark? Sounds like a pretty big foating sausage fest if you ask me.

Actually before you claim to know someone,I'm very artistic as I've drawn comic books since a very young age,and have directed a short film and recorded my own music,so imagination,or lack there of,isn't one of my problems.

I think that story wise, women would fit,but artistically,it doesn't fit.The facial features of the characters are very exaggerated,so there's only two things that they could do artistically.1)maintain the same theme in the women, which would more than likely make them look hideous,or 2)exaggerate their bodily features(boob, hips, butt),which would open the door for a whole other slew of complaints of how the devs are sixist.

Looks to me like SD can't win either way.

They could make the lips bigger, the nose bigger, the face smaller, things like that.. The boobs, butt and the hips doesn't have to be big to fit, see the ''normal'' girl with a giraffe neck in the Resort Mall picture

Females could have piercings in their scars/face tattoos section, see the anorexic chick in the Resort Mall picture

Alright, I couldn't even make it past this post without having to say this.
If your wife wants to play the game, but the only problem is that there's no female character types? Then it sounds like she needs to man up, grow some balls, whatever you want to call it, and just play the game already. There's no point in you, or her, complaining about this, when there's like Mr. Rick said, multiple threads on this topic, and they all lead back to the same thing, "Maybe in a sequel, if it goes that far. If that's her only reason for not playing the game? And if your beef is the fact that you want to play a game with her....Get a different game, or like I said earlier, convince her to play it, it's seriously not that big a deal.

Male gamer, fighting games? I.E. Tekken and the like? I primarily chose the females just for their being faster, but in an FPS? The only people that are going to see your female character, is everyone else, and if they did make female characters, they'd have to make them pretty much physically as able as the males, not more, not less, so it seems like it's all about appearances....Which in a game where you can't even see yourself, seems pretty pointless.

Lol, No that is not the main reason. She just didn't even consider it in the first place, seeing as all the FPS games automatically come out with out this option. I can honestly say that, if they had started implementing these attributes and characters to start, it would have made her think about the idea of playing with out me asking her to play in the first place. This is the point. It is actually a deeper and more in depth thought pattern that some might just jump to conclusions as to "why?" Think about how they this works in a broader scale in media gaming. It would appeal to more. More than we can see, Because the individual gamer is always assuming it is geared towards the one person they notice instead of the overall gamers out there.

Listen to your moderators, they are actually speaking sense. I respect that. I don't expect to see this incorporated any time soon ;) This post is merely a focus on applying this in the future.

Having a hard time thinking of how the females would look in BRINK? Play on the map Resort, there you can find 3 female pictures - something in the lines of that doesn't look too weird, no?

We understand that you may want this feature but calling SD sixist for not including it proves what exactly? Sure it would be great to have female models in Brink; having more options is rarely a bad thing. The point is that this issue was brought up prior to the release of Brink and SD, in particular Richard Ham, went on record and told us why they would not be including them. We respected their choice and although many of us agree that it would have been a great option to have, it was their choice to make.

That being said if you meant your post as a suggestion for future content in Brink or Brink 2 then your post was entirely inappropriate. Reread what you wrote. You attack SD, calling their choice 'idiotic'. You rationalize your post using a hugely flawed example as well since Gears of War and Gears of War 2 both lacked female models, yet having them in Gears of War 3 somehow justifies their previous absence? Well, maybe by your own logic Brink 3 will have female models since you intended your post as a suggestion for future content.

In games today it should be common practice to include women characters imo. I would love to play this type of game with my gf. There are many games that include women.

L4D (1 and 2)
Halo (colors)
Mirrors Edge
Metroid
Portal 2
Gears 3
Borderlands

Its high time devs get this on their check lists. Seems like a huge oversight to me.

You can't really count mirrors edge and metroid.... I'm fairly certain you were limited to a female character in both. Portal/portal 2 as well. Borderlands? Herp Derp. It's an RPG! So the only ones that are valid are L4D, Halo and gears 3. None of which required unique customization options, motion capturing, or hitboxing. Your comparison is unfair. It is not an oversight. An oversight is when you neglected to do something. They choose not to do add female characters for perfectly valid reasons.

I voted no. They would need to make women models for each body type, change all the current clothes to fit all 3 women body types, all the new clothes that will be added will also need to fit them. Not to mention voice acting for women among other things im sure I didnt think of. As I say in all these threads, more maps is better then more boobies, when it comes to xbox games anyway. :hubbahubba:

Blah blah blah........ They did not have enough time or resources to add females PROPERLY. They wanted to add female characters and make them right, or don't make them at all. So don't go accusing SD of being sixist for something so stupid unless you actually look into it before complaining.

/End topic >: (

YOU must have missed the part where they spent a year POLISHING the game and making sure there were NO BUGS......cause to me this game is content-less in comparison to other titles. Seriously....I am not comparing gameplay or ideas of this to say HALO. The fact of the matter is the CONTENT and TIME they had to add in FEMALES was def. there. Trust me. They had plenty of time and even had a few FEMALE artist doing characters. I am sure they could have done it right.

To me, they got lazy. Plain and simple. They did NOT polish this game or do anything but make minor HUD changes. If anything they took things away in that year that many people liked. Like the 'bleeding xp' thing. Some complained it muddied up the screen others liked it. As of now, I am sure it wouldn't have made much a difference.....since this game lacks ALOT of things. Namely content and replayability.

So continue on people thinking that what they told you in TWEETS and other random site updates was the main reason. I think there was other motives. But that's all hearsay.

I think the questions should be..........

Why settle on just females and not maps or vice versa. It should be all things that would make this game more complete. More maps....more customization....more character models. More more more.

Have you all seen how much content LA NOIRE gave out? 3 discs and a DLC. Hahahaha......they spent time and actually got CONTENT on their $60 game. I know its not the same type game...that makes NO difference. It's expectation to what is really delivered and we (the consumer) were ripped.

It's not as easy as slappign a pair of briasts on a male character and calling it female. It would take way to long to make female models, new archtypes for females and other things.Do some research before complaining about no female models in BRINK.

If you were familiar with this subject then you would be aware that Richard Ham, the Creative Director at SD, was the one that stated that adding female models would be too time intensive and would take away from the customization options offered for the male characters. You are entitled to have you own opinion but we are paraphrasing his words, not making stuff up. If you continue to act in such a hostile manner towards other members of this forum I will have no choice but to report your posts.

LOL! Okay...first of all, if you want to believe everything you're spoon-fed through media...more power to you. I'm not saying Ham was lying or disagreeing with you what he said, I'm just taking everything with a grain of salt and know what I would say/think about the topic if I was him as well. What I'm saying, is that they never should have had to look back in the first place and figure out if it would be cost/time effective to implement female character models in the game...they should have done so from the beginning and let that set the level for customization. Not that complicated of an idea and should have been on their list from the get go.

Second, if you wish to report me for discussing the topic and calling out a forum member who directly criticized the OP and was quite vulgar when doing so...then be my guest. I really could care less and if you think I need the privilege of writing these posts...you're wrong. But here's a thought...threatening to report me, which of course a threat, is against forum policy as well and you too can be reported. Food for thought my friend.
