No thanks, I'd rather not see this game get an AO rating.

Well if you were a Necromancer or some really evil character, then you would have no morals and this would be acceptable for you. They would have to add points to your infamy and people would steer clear of you.

this should be in the 'Gore and violence' thread then
i dont feel having that type of violence would add anything to the game, why not just yell "YOL TOOR" in there face instead of breaking a finger....
if they did implement it (doubt it) then it would be more like a mini game of trying to shove a splinter in an eye.

Now if it was like having someone tied up in a chair, while you take swings at them... that could work, but i just dont see it as an option in-game.

Something like the F2, "Wheel of Misfortune". That thing was great! I'd love to have something like that in my evil char's lair of death.

Not too drastic torture please.
Modern Warfare will take care of this I believe.

In terms of getting information, maybe, it depends on what that means. I could see some dungeons or prisons having a torture chamber, that would really set the mood for those locations. Maybe have a person in stocks in the center of a town.

Torture isn't evil.If it is evil then every church, kingdom or political faction from the beginning of humanity to 1949 is evil.

well if you think about it a lot of them are... churches depending on how you look at it have pretty twisted morals for what they are...kingdoms had tyrannical rulers most of the time. and political factions if you pay to much attention they drive you mad... tbh political factions are still torturing us all

Crusades were religious wars because some one didn't share a belief and a lot of the time people were [censored], innocents were killed for no reason and so forth

tyrannical rulers an example of one from that time period you mentioned was Adolf Hitler he was the biggest hypocrite ever to live not to mention he slaughtered 11million people if your counting every one he killed... for is own personal gain he is also an example of a political faction because he was from the NAZI party who before him was only a worker party not what we think of today

so yes in a way all those things are Evil

No amount of violence will get any game an AO.

a parliament or a church isn't evil, it can't make choices
individuals with in those organisations made those decisions
also what makes you think torture stopped in 1949

Let's get back on track. Torture in Skyrim not real life. Anyway all torture doesn't have to be gruesome. You could use a tickle spell and a candlestick.....

Really do you honestly think that would work to get information?Lopping off fingers bit by bit seems to be far mor efficent and I see no problem with doing so in skyrim.

Also candlestick torture? Are you joking?I can see all the mods now if they let us pour candle wax on people to "torture" them

Thats a little naive. The USSR under Stalin ratified the 4th Geneva Convention of 1949.

I understand that torture didn't completly stop that would be increadibly naive to believe like believing in world peace.I was saying that many countries tried to stop the worst of torture water torture etc etc.

The possibility of torturing NPCs would allow for some great development of my characters. Because I'm not a sadist and don't actively enjoy inflicting pain, it wouldn't be a feature I'd use often, but just imagine coming back from completing an errand or other to discover that an NPC you had become fond of was slain, maybe even [censored], by bandits or marauders; if the connection with the NPC is strong enough, it could warrant hunting down and even torturing the wretch responsible in what would essentially be a crime of passion (that would be regretted later).

It could be as gruesome as you could take it. It would be an option and not everyone would have to use it, unless the quest called for it. There would be different degrees for light (tickle spell and candlestick) to getting medieval with a pair of pliers and a blow torch...
