Tosh Raka and the Ka Po Tun theocracy

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:16 pm

Tosh Raka, leader of the Ka Po Tun somehow managed to turn into a Dragon. Probably Akatosh. I was thinking, Isn't that exactly what Martin did as well? Not sure what this means but I'm drawin lines here.

The dragon that Martin was was Akatosh. Well, one of his avatars, at least.

I believe what tgl1992 was trying to say, is that Tosh Raka underwent Dracochrysalis and possibly became an aspect of the Time God, similar to how Auri-el is an aspect of Aka - or Aka is an aspect of Auri-el. This is dissimilar to Martin, as Martin simply became an avatar of Aka, not an aspect.

I don't think that's what tgl said. But it kinda makes sense.... not really but I'll deal with that when I get back from snowboarding.

Tosh Raka may have ascended in a similar fashion to Auriel.

AFAIK, Martin never really became Akatosh, so much as he killed himself to summon an Avatar of Akatosh. That's a top-town procedure, where Aka imposes himself upon Nirn.

Tosh Raka, on the other hand, became so awesome that he could no longer deny his inner divinity, and thus became the Great Dragon. This is a bottom-up procedure, where Tosh imposes himself upon the celestial sphere.

According to MK and Sheogorath, Martin did indeed mantle Akatosh. Kurt also used the word "apotheosis" to describe the event.

A shame Uriel VII didn't go mythic. He would have made a fine Aka.

How much do we truly about this "Tosh Raka?" There is just one book circa Morrowind and not a single word on the tiger dragon empire since then.......

I'm making a fan piece on the subject, but as far as official word I can't say there is much more than what is written in Mysterious Akavir.

Tosh Raka is the Akaviri version of Auriel/Akatosh. He didn't turn into Akatosh; you might as well say Akatosh turned into Tosh Raka.

Except, as stated by the Khajiit, Tosh Raka was still essentially a really big cat. I was never sure if they meant this to be Dovah in general or just this instance, but Tosh still held the coloring and general shape of his original form as well as his personality.
I seriously doubt Tosh had an apotheosis to Aedra status, especially to become an avatar of Akatosh. The Mysterious Akavir suggests that he did not take his historical name until his people left Tamriel.
It seems more reasonable to assume Tosh simply polymorphed, then took his name either in reverence or defiance to Man and Mers time god.

Where do the Khajiit talk about Tosh Raka?

Varieties of Faith, although they weren't referring Tosh Raka, but Alkosh (Akatosh). Didn't make that very clear :P Sorry.

He is depicted as a fearsome dragon, a creature the Khajiit say 'is just a real big cat'.

It would seem if the Dovah and Ko Po Tun were related in any way, the Dracolysis (I think that's what it was called.) would be much easier.
Also it seems as if a Dracolysis is an all-together different thing than ascending to god-hood, as all Aedra and Daedra can apparently manifest as any creature on Mundus including Dragons, but obliviously none of the dragons are actually god-like (with the possible exception of Alduin).

Also, whenever the Dragon of Time manifests, the "Dragon Breaks", something never mentioned in the Tiger King's snipet...
