Total Noob Save Problem

Hey guys, I know you get these kinds of questions all the time, but I've searched for a while around the net and haven't come up with an answer to my problem.

I'm a total noob to the GECK (and modding in general). I downloaded it a couple weeks back but only started messing with it the other night. I downloaded this home mod I really liked and wanted to change a few things (size of the rooms, adding a few decorations around, different beds, etc.) just for myself. That, I don't have any problems with; the problem is when I try to save my changes.

I'm gonna try and word this so I don't sound like an idiot lol. So I open up the main Fallout file and the plug-in from the house mod, and save after everything opens so it makes a new active file. Then I get to work on the home cell, change the things I want, and hit save. The screen does a quick flash like it's saving, and then I exit. I have to find the new plug-in file afterward by searching and move it over to my data folder. I activate that and the home mod in FOMM and play. Any changes I've made to the home don't show up at all though.

I've even tried making edits to the original plug-in file from the mod to no avail. I opened it up and tried deleting just a bed and saving. I try and exit geck and I get "Save changes to plugin file?" I hit yes and it doesn't exit. The only way I can exit the geck is if I hit no. Even if I go to File and save, then exit, still no changes made in-game.

I just read something a minute ago saying you can't edit esm files, but the original plug-in from the home mod is an esp file, so I'm able to edit that right? Anyone know what the problem is? I'm guessing it's probably an easy thing I'm just not seeing. Thanks in advance for the help!

Edit: Solved! All I had to do was run the geck as an administrator, durrr.
