Version 0.7. http://http://www.darkcreations.org/forums/files/file/631-touring-carriages/
After 2 months laying down trails for carriages to follow, it's time for vigorous testing. This is as yet a very rough re-creation of Scenic Carriages and Real Carriages, with elements of both. However, because it is designed to be removed at any time, it should be safe to use in an on-going game.
Features implemented thus far:
- Installs at any time:
- Without hiding in safe cells or running scripts.
- Can be installed from a save standing and staring at a vanilla carriage.
- Without hiding in safe cells or running scripts.
- Removes cleanly:
- Without hiding in safe cells or running scripts.
- Restores to vanilla state immediately after arrival at the home city.
- Restores to vanilla state after the carriage is out of sight.
- Without hiding in safe cells or running scripts.
- Travel to 9 holds:
- Whiterun to "all the hold capitals."
- Other carriages are (deliberately) more limited to their regions.
- Carriages meet at the major holds, allowing easy transfer.
- Each carriage has its own quest/script and runs independently.
- Lore friendly.
- Whiterun to "all the hold capitals."
- Travelogue commentary (already present in vanilla files) is actually working.
- 1 follower travels with you.
- Pausing along the way.
- Sleeping (fast travel).
Not fully implemented yet:
- Elegant transitions.
- Embarking currently uses the blackout and fading technique of Scenic and Real Carriages.
- Eventually hope to turn the player and move to the back of the carriage, so the cart/driver/horse substitution is not visible and no blackout is needed.
- Debarking without blackout works, but the animation (vanilla) is very slow.
- If you turn around quickly enough, you will see the original horse re-appear.
- Embarking currently uses the blackout and fading technique of Scenic and Real Carriages.
- More than 1 follower.
- Even 1 is buggy. The follower debarks, disappears, and comes running up the road.
- Variable pricing.
- Pickups in villages.
- Paid waiting in villages.
- Compatibility with HearthFire?
