A town that YOU build

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 5:23 am

In Morrowind you could built your own Fort. In Bloodmoon you also helped build the mining town there. So I dont see why not, would like to see it more indepth than the older versions though.

I really like the idea of a small settlement, maybe something like a roman marching camp with woden watchtowers and sharpened stake walls, and as for placing building you could enter a new top down veiw with hovinging buildings that you can move about with the mouse or joysticks. After a building has been placed it was also be good if you could see people working on building it when back in 1st person veiw. But only able to build one building at a time.

First question: yes
Second quetion: other - I wouldn't request profits for myself and would even donate my own money. By the time I get to govern a town, I will already have more money than I know what to do with. Might as well see how much it can help the citizens and how good a town I can conceive, both of which are a lot more satisfactory.

Something akin to Raven Rock would be fine. Or the system used in Summoner 2 with Maia being queen and answering petitions etc. Perhaps not a town though, better and more useful to be an old fortress that you restore or something.

I don't see how this idea is out of the 'scope of TES', they've touched on the idea in Morrowind and Oblivion and i think they generally received very good receptions for their efforts at town/manor creation. I, like alot of other people, really enjoyed the creation of Raven Rock in Bloodmoon and your own manor as head of the houses in Morrowind. It doesn't have to be taken to the same level as Sims, but I think it's a great aspect of the game and I would be extremely happy if they included it again. Even if actually governing isn't something they include, just the creation of a unique town or small village that involves the character's input adds a great dimension to the game.

I do hope you can make a town..... Beth should Pre-Set like 3 locations..... Then you buy houses inside the Pre-Set Land that you choose....

I also hope we can pick stores we want... And populaces we want.... Like evil Argonians only..... Pick what your town will be.... :intergalactic:

It worked with Raven Rock, I'm sure it could work here. Again, I see this as a perfect reason for a Solstheim plugin. Rebuild "New Raven Rock" or something.

Raven Rock was perhaps my favorite quest line in all of MW/TB/BM, being able to physically see the way you affect the world like that is really cool and it makes things feel less static. I'd love for them to incorporate construction into some of the guild quest lines. Building a stronghold for the fighters guild, establishing a hideout for the thieves guild, etc. once you become the guild leader.

No, a town/city is too much.
Most I would want to build is maybe a guild hall or a shop. Nothing more than that.
Or else we're just putting the developers hard work into the cities they created to waste.

How is it putting it to waste? It would be showcasing the versatility and Adaptability of the engine they use to create cities. This was done in Raven rock (to a much lesser extent) and believe me, especially if you never played Morrowind, Raven rock was fun.

I already discussed this at length in several other threads. I can't find them all, I can only find this one. You can copy and paste it here if you want to add it to this discussion. So here's my take on it:

I like this idea, but if they did it, it would take development time away form things that need to or should be done more. This would be a prefect DLC though. I've always wanted a game where you make a town, but you're actually there instead of some god like thing who magical spawns buildings and roads.

Yea, I agree with you, maybe a fortress. The 360 had a Battlehorn castle DLC that is similar to ruling but not really. I would like to build a stronghold and rule that in Skyrim (I don't think this is very far from reality in the game). Kind of like MW but better.

Meh I would force a conscription in my town but rule it peaceful. So everyone will be able to defend themselves and the town whenever they have to. Then they will go back to their pesantry stuff.

I thought a return to Solstheim was unimaginative, but this is just pushing it too far.
