Toxic clouds (as in Dead Money)?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:45 pm

I noticed several low clouds in the various Boston neighborhoods during the trailer. I'm wondering if this is supposed to indicate toxic clouds like in the Sierra Madre or is it supposed to be some benign fog.

I would be surprised if there is not some kind of similar hazard in Boston. Given the differing humid climate and location on the sea, that Boston's toxic clouds may be some combination of fog and toxic cloud (Tog?) and may not resemble the clouds in Fallout New Vegas.

We know there will be radiation storms (like sandstorms but with radiation) that is supposed to be very deadly if your caught in it outdoors but thats all we know so far.

Do you have a source? Not that I don't believe you, I just want to read for myself.

Flavour gas or possibly a visual cue for radioactive areas is my bet.

He talked about that in the reveal at e-3 also in an interview that an area is like super run down and radioactive. I'm honestly guess in if you watch the trailer and see the deathclaw wondering, that's the area. Also spoke about the storms and [censored].

Skip to 1:48 that area he talks about in the area. Different then all places on the map. Wastelands or something. http://youtu.be/GE2BkLqMef4

I'd say benign fog, well as benign as Brahaim Farts get anyway.

If there are toxic clouds, i hope they intorduce a kind of head wear, like gasmasks.

The clouds of sierra Madre were killing the exploration design, it was a nice feature on paper, but badly designed ingame.

you had to rush through the clouds as fast as you can while taking damage...

My real question is.. will the NPCs react to the dangerous radiation storms.. or just ignore it like its not happening. I would love to see NPCs running for shelter when a radiation storm blows in knowing to seek cover.

The glowing sea got me thinking. Would it be possible for us to see mutated sharks? More notably the strongest types: great white, bull, tiger or whale sharks.

Wonder if somebody will mod this in the game for glowing sea area when your in vertibird you get random encounter.

I remeber someone mentioning they wanted flying sharks a month ago and came about this trailer.

VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED:

That reminds me of STALKER where the NPCs would go for cover. If I remember correctly I was fighting some enemies once when an emission (is that what they were called?) came and they ran into a small shack, which I also went into and the hostilities were ceased until the emission was over.

That would be pretty bad if radiation storms could kill npc's. Radiation storm would be the new dragon/vampire attack.

Yeah they do run when Emission is about to hit but not only that any dead bodies become zombies.

Unless gas mask are implemented they could die.

kinda wanted to be a unique item, there for you use less rad away and rad x,kinda wish they make it like Metro where you have to find filters.

Then again it will defeat having rad x and rad away items, guess gas mask be like a radiation suits.

Oh well we have to wait and see only long 15 days to go and I'm going mad waiting..

Yeah, definitely. Also, another random encounter of a megalodon. Ex: easter egg in BF4.

Thanks, that trailer gave me a chuckle.

The thing there is that gas masks do NOT stop radiation.. at all.. neither do hazmat suits either really.. if the radiation is strong enough nothing will protect you from it.

but fallout isnt real life and they have anti radiation medicine and stuff as long as NPCs know to avoid dangerous radiation storms we wont have any issues.

I'd rather have something like ash storms of Morrowind rather than Dead Money's clouds which killed everything else as far as gameplay goes.

Yeah was thinking about that when I went to bed.

And in FO3 to NV we have already enclosed radiation suits and still get rads.

Wonder if beside radiation storm we get other types like dead money "Cloud" which is a poisonous gas type, then that would make sense for gas mask to be in the game but with something less leathal but hard to breath in.
