If my game crashed with no error while I was just standing around the first thing I would do would be to check that the temperature of my cpu/gpu was okay.

If your saying it crashed when you where using the wait function then I don't think that would be related to a corrupt spawn or the problem I described in this thread.

Interesting gude. I seen to get some random crashes out in thw wilderness for some reason. But im still not sure if they are corrupt spawns, because if i just go to the same place i got the crash, it doesnt crash anymore

Great article. I am sure this was my problem a couple weeks back. I entered the gate at Kvatch but the game kept crashing at the same place, over and over. Since there was no place to go but forward, I ended up tearing my hair out and starting a new game.

Only problem is my new character is a slacker, avoids responsibility and fears Kvatch. Maybe with this info, he will discover his inner hero. ;)

Could be hardware overload. It's certainly the most common cause for *my* game to crash.

In my case suspect that is the video card being overworked. Normally the game starts stuttering more and more untill it crashes. But it takes 1-3 hours, and playing more than 1 hour at a time is not very healthy anyway...

This could have been a very frustrating problem if I'd not read this thread:

I just climbed up through a three tower oblivion gate and it was a rough fight all the way.

I get the sigil area pluck the prize - gates closes - ctd. again and again.

Thinking that maybe there was a corrupt spawn near the gate I ~coc testing hall and wait a day (respawn time in my game). Then go back to the gate - no ctd - fight my way back up (again) and get the sigil stone this time able to close the gate without ctd.

... now if I can just figure out why my character is taking no damage from falling at all. Hopefully he is not corrupt too. No enchantments on him - bare nekid - and he can jump off any height and land like it is nothing. All with an acrobatic score of 37.
It is handy and fun to watch - but now a cheat.

[edit corrected my spelling]

^Possible feather effect that doesn't show up for some reason?

I certainly found this thread useful... clued me into the usefulness of TES4Edit. I link to it when it seems appropriate. :)

When this happens to me, I usually just wait until the spawnpoint resets (3 days gametime default) before entering that cell again (luckily I save a lot, so that helps as well). Not the most elegant solution, but works almost every time as the crash in that cell is gone.
