Tragic! Just Tragic! ( Spoilers )

This post made me laugh out loud! :celebration:

It also sums up the biggest advantage that FO:NV offers over FO3. Just because one NPC tells you to do something doesn't mean it's the only path.

Alot of people cheaply sniped them where deathclaws couldn't get them but me the 1st time I walked right in with the plasma caster and killed everything. 2nd time I used the pushy and had veronica as backup.

Honestly the most memorable was walking in there with Mercy and just unleashing hell on them, probably whenever I go back though I'll just use my fully modded AMR with explosive rounds. Deathclaw problem = solved.

Yeah it really is a great game man. I wish they had multiplayer because when I'm done playing it as an "Evil Charector" I know i'm gonna wish I sould challenge myself against human competition.

Me Dear Friends. I am writing now to let you know that the battle is over. We have defeated the legion and New Vegas is now free.

However, my heart is sad because we lost REX and Canibal Johnson. Rex was taking out by the head Legat, and Canibal Johnson was shot in the face. I want you all to know that these men were heros. Rex die bravley against a well armed enemy, and Johnson would still be alive had he not removed his helmut to take a bite out of a legioners heart.

With this victory, the NCR will be able to commit more forces to the wastland and it's people. They are evicting the followers of the apocalypse which I think is kind of messed up, but other than that, I feel this will be a positive step in the right direction.

Well, actually, there is the matter of my gay friend Arcade Gannon. Unfortunatley he is currently being hunted down by the NCR because his father was in the Enclave. The Enclave Remnents helped at the battle so I think this is unjust. I'm currently raising caps for the "Free Arcade Fund" If you guys want to donate please send your caps to the Mojave Express in Primm.

On the plus side, Freeside will remain independent, the town of Jacobstown is thriving and Strip has been Annexed into the NCR, which is awesome, because now we'll benift from the families paying NCR taxes. In no way is that constitutional but it means we all get public school educations now. "Hurray! Now we can all make one more dollar than minimum wage!"

As for me, I'm gonna try my hand at this whole Dead is Dead thing. Rooster Smith is gonna go settle down somewhere quiet. But Bobbi Jo Manilow, the sinister rehead has already survived the battle of Goodsprings. next, stop? Making caps at the Powder Gangers Prison.

That's the NCR for you. Someone helps them and then they get hunted for something one of their relatives were a long time ago.

Can't say I'm sad for losing Cannibal Johnson. The man is a disgrace to the Enclave and he did indeed wish for a glorious death, to die with his boots on as the saying goes.
I support your fund, nonetheless.

:D :D This thread had me giggling.

I'm betting that wasnt a glitch either, the game just really really wants you to kill great khahns, for some reason. .
But if you're going to obliterate a hardworking and dignified community you have to go the whole way. Dont forget the little group hanging out in the quarry. And also, the ones hiding in the khahn armoury just outside their canyon.
And to be sure you've absolutely wasted them all, you might want to go and find that emo poet boy you sent off to the mormon fort, If you indeed sent him off.

I think next time you stumble in and decide to wipe out a self sufficient and noble community, aim for the Boomers base, they have carry better stuff and their clothes look nicer.

I don't know, I think the Khans had more style.

You might be relieved to find out that jack and Diane are still alive, they slept through the whole thing. Them and one random Khan that was back in the drug lab when the whole thing went down. Their gonna have a hell of a suprose when they wake up though.

Well that's okay then :) You wasted the warriors and the defenders, and probably all the young and fertile women, but atleast the junkie wasters who gave the community such a bad name will survive to shoot up another day.

Well thanks for removing my post... I still don't see what the purpose of the thread is about but whatever, let's roll with it.

Uniting BOS with NCR?
Yeah that'll turn out well in the long run, as soon as McNamara is gone or when they get in contact with the other elders they're going to be severely punished by the westernmost chapters or they'll stick true to their codex and take advantage of the situation to mess NCR up.
So in a way I think you just screwed over NCR, but that's just my take on it.

I'm suprised by the negative reaction from not just you, but from everybody.

I'm a competitive guy. I like to get out there and get beat up. I'm like Rocky, I don't expect to win, but I know if I'm still standing when that bell rings than I aint just another bum from Brooklyn.

Heres the thing, I don't want the single player to go away, I love the single player. I just wish that they also had multiplayer, I'm not suggesting legislation gets passed that everyone has to do it. But imagine all these cool conversations on this forum actually being acted out on the PSN?

And to anyone who says they can't do it, well, they told Louie Armstrong he couldn't fly to the moon. Now he's up there, laughing at us.

I think it comes from how and why we play games. You and I might play the same game and we might both enjoy the same game, but we can still be playing for very different reasons. From the moment PCs were invented people (nerds, if we're being honest) were trying to recreate the best of D&D-style PNP games. PNP games are only limited by imagination, but as computers have advanced we get ever closer to that ideal - the ability to live a virtual life, exploring and contributing to a virtual world.

Ultima, Fallout 1/2, Baldur's Gate, Arcanum - all have given us worlds to explore, NPCs to meet and, at the end of it, our own unique tales to tell.
:fallout:

What I'm trying to say is that some people play 'games' while some people explore virtual worlds.
I'm not saying one is better than the other. Both groups can play the same RPG, one group roleplays and the other grinds through quests - we all have a great time.
It's also the reason that the FO3 vs FONV rages on - FO3 is more 'game-y' while FONV is more of a virtual world. They have a lot in common, but they are very different experiences at their heart.

So, the reason that some (see, I got here eventually) that people might object to the idea comes down to WHY we play the game. I would dislike it because:
* It would make it more 'game-y' and less like a virtual world/RPG
* It would take resources away from the development of the single-player experience.
* It would encourage meta-gaming
* It would lead to a limitation on the level of player agency in the world.

There are many, MANY games that allow you to play with (cooperatively and competitively) with other people.
But there are very few people making virtual worlds for us to explore.

1. I would do it, so it was a virtual world/RPG in single player. But more like World of Warcraft and Call of Duty in Multiplayer. I'm aware that these are 3 different games but Video games will be better 10 years form now then they are now. This will one day be a possibility.

2. It would take no resources away in an idea world, which we will get to eventually in the video game community.

3. I don't know what Meta gaming is. There wasn't much book learning in the vault i grew up in.

4. Player agency?

2. Tru dat. Sadly this isn't an ideal world.
3. Playing the game like you are playing a game, rather than playing the game like you were in the game
4. What effect the player can have on the world/npcs/plot, and how they react back.

There is a game that did try to meld single player and multiplayer. It did it by emulating the way pen-and-paper games work as closely as they could.
Not only could players play together or fight one another, but someone could play as the game-master/dungeon-master. That person could control/spawn monsters, possess and control NPCs, drop items and control the game like a puppet-master behind the scenes.

It was awesome if you could play it like that, with a game-master and group who roleplayed together.
Sadly, as a single player game, it was profoundly average.

I'd be careful at that, the prison doctor ran off, and there's no tellin' what manner of saber-toothed little nasties might be swimmin' around in the gene pool out there.

My Courier had a batter idea for getting Arcade out. Storm the prison. If all of Eddies legion couldn't stop an Ex-MWBoS Inquisitor on a rampage, some NCR prison guards sure as hell ain't.

I have to really wonder about your hatred for Johnson. He disagreed with the Enclave, but he still fought for it. "My country, right or wrong" and such. He married a local and tried to integrate only after the Enclave got it's collective ass kicked and bother their nation and their cause were effectively dead. By that point, he'd carried out his service oath and served well. Enlistment in the Army doesn't have a suicide clause, after all.
