Trailer NPC Count.
How many NPCs you can count in each scene?

=== === === === === === === === === ===

OK, This is a game, in which I want to challenge you to look for all the NPCs in each scene after the dragon shout, and count them minus the scenes in which the PC character fights the dragon.

And here are the scenes and my count:

  • Markarth Side: 3
  • Forest: 0
  • Night-time town: 3
  • Gargoyle town: 0
  • Windmill town: 5? 6?
  • Mountain-top temple: 2
  • Flowing river: 0
  • Giant scene: 0
  • Watermill town: 7
  • Troll scene: 0
  • Tavern: 5
  • Undead axing: 0
  • Cave: 0
  • Bandit fight: 1
  • Undead bombing: 0
  • Wraith scene: 0
  • Wolf zooming: 0
  • Undead blasting: 0
  • Stabbing scene: 1
  • Dwemer dungeon: 0
  • Spider scene: 0

And I will point them out after a while.

Is this just a boredom killer or something? I don't see the point.

The point is spending time before the actual Skyrim, and to point out that there are NPCs in there, where you did not look for them. :)

By the way, I found them in the HD trailer, in a screen resolution of 1920x1080.

Edit:

I give up.

1080p doesn't matter, it was captured on an Xbox360 which is 1280x720.

Awesome! We now know there are at least 22 NPCs! Thank god, I was worried we'd only have about 15.

Maybe he was trying to estimate how lively settlements and the world would be. And as he said, the games not out yet and there's no new information, so why not? People are too quick to throw snark about on the internet.

^ Exactly. It is acutally (perhaps) quite useful information to estimate how lively the towns will be, even though we only saw bits from the outskirts of the bigger cities. I hope that we will se a lot more NPC's rendered this time - oblivion could be kind of... empty. The PC hardware is definitely able to handle it but is the xbox (with all the other stuff it also have to handle at the same time?). Based on the NPC count I fear that we will not see a considerable increase in the number of NPCs over Oblivion.

One other reason is a game od challenge to see if anybody can see as much or even more NPCs in those scenes.

And to point out where did we see them.

I have actually actually seen all those NPCs in those scenes, except for where I said "5? 6?" because I was not sure about them being NPCs or just moving distant shadows..

Didn't someone at Bethesda say in a twitter that they intentionally chose shots with few and far away NPCs because they didn't want to show them off too much just yet?
