Transfer your OB Character to Skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 30, 2011 3:50 am

So i was thinking a transfer Character thing

I would like it to transfer my Oblivion character to Skyrim (and the Oblivion Character will look much better in Skyrim)

But your Oblivion character that's been transferred to Skyrim start back at level 1 again

i would really would like an option like that in Character Creation

What do you think about this ?

Sorry but what purpose would this serve? Your character's skills and level count for nothing and its not like there are any choices and consequences you make in Oblivion that could have an impact on the events in Skyrim nor is there any real choices or consequences in Oblivion at all other than choosing to complete a quest or questline or not do the quest. The only thing I can see this having a possible effect on is the appearance of Sheogorath (who I doubt will even make an appearance in Skyrim) and possible references to the Champion of Cyrodiil.

My Characters are all connected to the Nevervarine Bloodline through ancestry. Having a Mass Effect system would be a Turrible Idea. ( That was purposely spelled wrong.

if you get deep into the TES lore, the camoran dynasty is full of dragon born, one of the camorans was an emperor hundreds of years before oblivion

Its hard to prove that Mankar is related to the other Camoran's though. Mankar was an Altmer. The mother of Haymon Camoran's son was a Bosmer, as was the Usurper himself. According to Notes on Racial Phylogeny, the race of the mother is passed onto the son or daughter. So that's where the confusion is. He can't be easily linked to the Camoran dynasty.

Pointless...but I would like to come across "The Champion of Cyrodiil Tomb"(on the border of Cyrodiil and Skyrim somewhere?)

The Camoran dynasty was originally instated by the Aldmeri Dominion, we really only have the UESP's word for it that Haymon was a Bosmer, he could just as easily have been an Altmer or Ayleid (my personal favorite). While that wouldn't explain his Bosmer mother, the fact that Altmer are tall and Bethesda probably didn't want you looking down at the final villain does. Canonically speaking, he probably would have been a Bosmer.

The character creation system is totally different this time around, so it wouldn't work. And for the time it would take to implement, it wouldn't be worth it.

My first character is going to be a descendant of my most played Oblivion character, but I'm just going recreate him. With the new system, he should look even better than the old one.

I've recreated the same (as near as possible) character for Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion. She's coming back for Skyrim. She just keeps getting reborn coincidentally about the same time that the world needs saving. Kinda lucky for the world that.

I'm currently playing through Morrowind then Oblivion with the same character, who becomes the madgod Sheogorath. 200 years later he sends an avatar of himself to Skyrim in order to stop Alduin eating the world. Problem solved

REMINDER THIS JUST AN A OPTION YOUR NOT FORCED TO DO IT

Stop flaming me now :( :(

What exactly are you expecting to transfer? There are no more classes or attributes, the skillset is entirely different, you level up faster with a higher cap, Oblivion does not take perks into account, the facegen system is completely remade and will thus be incompatible (and it would look very ugly anyway), the bodies use different models and model system, the armour and clothing and weapons will all be new models. There is NOTHING you can transfer from one game to another in terms of your character.

Just your character......

Again new art styles new EVERYTHING from skin tones to body types to what kind eyelashes you have without serious work on Beth's end that may or may not work at the end its not worth trouble when you can just make the same character in Skyrim as best as you can. PC user? Alt enter line up Skyrim and Oblivion Side by side and make the closest resembles you can that Skyrim can offer. Console user who cannot remember your own character get your cellphone snap a photo and do the same as PC part

Well 50 percent for yes is i would like to transfer my high elf witch hunter and 50 percent no is i would like to start with a fresh high elf witch hunter to see what changes bethesda made to the skills and if it has the same attributes that oblivion had for the class.

Its even harder to transfer between 2 games that don't even use the same engines. The data isn't the same so there is nothing that can be transferred. So no matter how much you want this, it wont happen. It can't happen, period.

Yes, just for the look the new system uses another face editor, the result of an transformation would probably not look good even if this is possible.
Stats are different and you are supposed to start at level 1 not 30.

My last character in Oblivion retired in Deepscorn Hollow and has no intention to travel to Skyrim. I start fresh with a young adventurer.

Why would you bother? Why not just make same race, improved face, same name and back into the world? It's rather pointless because the level is the same - there isn't really truly an advantage to it at all...

Don't know since it's a different engine, maybe Race and Gender, a possible extra bonus to skills that you specialized in Oblivion.

It's not *really* a new engine. It's just a revamped version of the old one. They've learned from Apple beyond the UI, and are using meaningless buzzwords to describe things like that.

No, I like to create new characters for each game. There is too much history on my previous characters.

Sorry bro but this is a really, really bad idea. Each elder scrolls game is a different story and involves a different hero. That's kinda the point. It isn't ME3 where the same guy is the hero throughout the series.

TL;DR = NO

By what we've seen the face-generation has been completely overhauled so there would be no data that could be transferred in any meaningful way from your Oblivion character. Theoretically Beth could probably make a program that translates the Face-Gen middleware data into something that you can plug into the new system but that would just take too long and probably not even work in most cases.
