Transfer your OB Character to Skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 30, 2011 6:06 am

Or maybe after a certain quest then there is an option to transfer your character? Through a magical portal? Maybe even a companion? Just a few thoughts :)

1. I had a mod that let me wear it...so I actually could wear it.
2. It's as silly as Aludin trying to eat everything.
3. Once again...I was able to wear it.
4. Well...I got nothing for #4.

1. Mods are not canon
2. Alduin is a divine being, he can do whatever he wants bar powerful rituals or mettlesome mortals.
3. See 1
4. Nothing needs to be said.

Let me know how well convincing a Deadric prince to become your travel buddy goes. I'll wait.

Well...I never did agree that your Oblivion character could be dragonborn in the first place.

Everyone's Oblivion character is the same person, with changes to the story due to differing narrators' opinions and knowledge. A canonical oblivion character would have had to completed all the major quests to their fullest extent, then left to the Shivering Isles never to be seen again.

No, not really. One of the best things about TES lore is the concept of subjective reality. The act of donning Sheogorath's regalia was as much symbolic as it was physical. By bearing his staff you became Sheogorath. His plan was for you to rebuff Jyggalag to preserve His realm, but as it turned out Jyggalag had planned for the exact same thing. The difference was that Sheogorath had planned to strip you of His power and reclaim it once the Greymarch was defeated, but Jyggalag was pleased to let you keep it so He could take all his soulless toys and go home (which is to say, nowhere, for He is His home, since Prince and Plane are one and the same).

It doesn't matter that there is a new Sheogorath, since He will be exactly the same as the "old" Sheogorath. A feeble mortal soul cannot withstand the power of an entire Plane of Oblivion, and over time the Champion would assuredly have more and more trouble returning to the mortal plane until it was impossible except under specific circumstances. By that point his personality will have been crushed completely, and some other mortal will have to use a dinner fork to kill a giant netch in his stead.

This debate will be proven one way or the other in Skyrim if we see Jyggalag alive and well or not. If Jyggy is out and about trying to Order everything up to make it all crystally and grey, then the Champion has been transformed. If he was just an illusion then Sheggy had his fun with a mortal and all's back to normal now.

thank you for explaining the whole greymarch thing, i never really understood it, which one of the possible occurences you listed do you think is most likely? on topic i i dont know how id import my character since the character models are going to be different and there are no attributes or majors or minors or birthsigns, if i wanted to id just give him the same name and then roleplay it

See the best thing about Oblivion, the Elder Scrolls in general, is that not everyone's Oblivion character is the same person. The only thing as far as absolute canon is the completion of the main quest.

Exactly. I would finish it ASAP (but take your time and have fun with it, just drop everything and play Oblivion right now).

I've been playing quite a bit - my latest Oblivion playthrough has been going about 6 months, around 350 hours in.

My plan is to finally complete the main quest on 11.10.11, ideally switching over to Skyrim at 12:01 am as soon as Steam unlocks the game.

My opinion is that the CoC is sheogorath is more likely, after all, new princes have been birthed before.

Well, we learn something every day, don't we?

I guess

I dunno. Who wouldn't want to transfer http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2226/lordraqethedoomsled.jpg?

I will not be able to sleep tonight.

What are you doing here then?

He enjoys ES games so he is on Beths froums I dont think it needs an explanation.

But Martin didn't learn anything in the years it took me to close shut the jaws of Oblivion...how nice of him.

True, my current year in my current playthrough is 436.

Despite how poorly Oblivion treated the lore overall, I'd say that the endgame of the main quest is actually worth playing through if you want a nice little setup for Skyrim. Mankar Camoran's rantings were well-written and intentionally wrong, and what Martin does with the Amulet is surprisingly lore-friendly and original.

Must go back adn read Camorans rants now that you have said what you said.

perhaps..guiness book of world records for the most FAIL

(most times dying in TES)

I'm trying to go through without grinding at all - it's going very slowly but I enjoy this pace.

first few levels basically I would cast summon scamp and run like hell from every combat encounter, hoping they chase the scamp instead of me

1. Skyrim has an entirely different style and character creation system doing so will create way to many issues more then benefits.

2. New game new character.. If your character is level 50+ in Oblivion how would you get to try perks?? and your character is old as hell and having experience what you did would be silly..

3. Why would want too seriously?

REMINDER NOT EVERYONE GONNA HAVE SKYRIM RUNNING ON PC INSTEAD SOME PEOPLE WILL USE CONSOLES

:flamethrower: :flamethrower: :flamethrower:

hehe if such was possible on 360 it will grow legs and a face and look at you like your an idiot and run away xD

So i was thinking a transfer Character thing

I would like it to transfer my Oblivion character to Skyrim (and the Oblivion Character will look much better in Skyrim)

But your Oblivion character that's been transferred to Skyrim start back at level 1 again

i would really would like an option like that in Character Creation

What do you think about this ?

Doesnt character CREATION sort of negate the transfer thing?

No, it wouldnt make sense because:

Your dead, 200 years later.
IF you were good then why are you being executed?
IF you werent good, they wouldnt have taken you out of cyrodiil
IF you werent good and you moved to skyrim, I dont think they would ever catch you if you had 200 years of experiance
Your level/skills would be screwed up

No, it wouldnt work via programs because:

They created a new engine so the animations wouldnt work
They created new bodies, so textures would be off
They created new textures, so your character would look [censored].

Its a really good idea, just a really terrible idea.

You aren't Sheogorath. You're a dead body lying face down in a pool of blood somewhere in His realm.
