Translations and Subtitles ... Global or not?

Hello Bethesda community! :D

I started playing video games since my childhood , there was a time when I did not play more now after a while , I decided to buy a more current generation console .
I was impressed how technology has changed , nowadays I see games video games , as major projects : Art , soundtrack , actors , etc ...
But unfortunately I am very sad to know that with all this technology , games are still for the American or British public ... or some other country that has English as the language as language.
Excuse me for being kind of rude , but I feel like other people , consumers , customers and fans are being left aside , the fact is that ... unfortunately we can not enjoy 100 % of the games , even with minimal knowledge of English .... = (
They have some games on my computer and my PS3 , but even my computer not having a good gaming performance , I just opting to play on my computer the same games , but with translations made ??by us fans ...
I leave here my call and my request to Bethesda team, Please I would love to be able to play Elder Scrolls or Fallout in the language of my country.
I believe that a small patch with subtitles in several languages ??, could give us 100 % utilization of these great games .
I greatly admire the work done for your games Bethesda.
Thanks!
ps: sorry for the english, I use a translator =(

Welcome to the forums, here's your http://images.uesp.net/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

Unfortunately, Skyrim is no longer being supported by patches.

And hiring translators could be very costly, if you add them up with graphic designers, writers, voice actors, bug testers, etc.

It just takes more time then needed. And English is considered a "major" language. We're all going to use English sooner or later.

I'm not English myself, and it doesn't bother me at all.

Edit: Patching for consoles costs around $40,000. Even if you alter a single word.

I'm not English either, and it bothers me when software is not in English.

Where do you live? Skyrim was translated to several major languages. I don't have a PS3, so I don't know if you can freely change the language or you need a regional copy to do it, but the options are there.

Really? Software(for computers, that is) almost always got the language you are.

I've no idea how much translating actually takes, and a game like Skyrim probably takes around a few months(normal shifts)

I believe Skyrim's available in German, French, English, and maybe Spanish...Not sure about the latter.

English is used around the planet and is relatively easy language. Shouldn't be too hard for anyone to learn at least the basics. And once you learn the basics, the rest can be understood with minimal effort.

It's much simpler for a game to use as few languages as possible. Thus number of translations to other languages are usually kept minimal.

And my native language is Finnish, one of the hardest on the planet and yet I've never had any major issues with English.

Thanks for replying all =)
Yes, unfortunately I think Skyrim will be no more updates patches, but with new generation consoles like PS4 and Xbox One, as it could be enhanced subtitles in various languages ??in future games to be released.
I mean ... only subtitles, I imagine it's not too expensive ...
Some translations made by fans, are small files that do not get to 3MB, something like this should not leave so expensive for video game companies nowadays.
ps: I'm Brazilian

I'm sorry to say so but I've played Morrowind and Oblivion translated in French: never more! Never, never, never! I'm playing Skyrim in English, which helped me improving it... a lot. :P

Furthermore, I'm sure the translations provided by fans are better than the official ones...

I prefer playing games on my console, I love rpg, and is often very difficult to understand the history and even their quests.
I long often trying to decipher what is written in the texts, a small and easy quest becomes very difficult when you can not understand what is written = (

There is no Portuguese version of the game but there is one in Spanish. On PC, we can switch languages if we want, I don't know if it's possible on consoles.

They get their payment based on their skills, education, and then take their hourly wage into account, monthly salary, etc.

I gues it's better for fans to add languages.

The problem with translations is, you cannot literally translate words. In-game jokes will be likely ruined, because the Brazil(or any other language) language have different structures.

If TES:VI is almost finished and they translate it, I hope 16-16-16 doesn't arrive, or you can kiss all their translations good bye. Along with any other piece of content that should've been there.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see more translations.

Another problem:

Bethesda has A LOT of self-made languages: Dragon, Falmer, Daedric, etc.

We try to put Skyrim in the native language in as many countries as possible, and this applies for English, French, German, Spanish, Italian. We also have subtitles for the Russian/Polish versions of the game.

While we're not able to put additional languages on all disc versions of the game, I know that Steam offers some additional options (territory dependent) where you can switch the language.

As noted, BGS has moved onto their next project -- so there's no current plans for new language compatibility with the game.

Thanks for the note and feedback.
