Trapped!

SPOILER ALERT! Definitely.

Spoiler
I'm inside the beer brewer's shack. I evaded a swarm of cazadors going in. But coming out the swarm is right on top of the door. That's no exaggeration. There's at least four, and just coming through the door, I walk right into their stingers, so at the end of the round, I'm already stung half to death. I figured step out, fire off a blast of A) a Gauss rifle, B) Plasma rifle, or C) 40 mm grenade, turn around and dash back into the shack to recover, but I'm **always** dead before I finish turning around.

I tried Waiting (T) for 1 hour or 5 hours, hoping they would go away and give me some elbow room coming out of the shack, but apparently they've camped out on the doorstep **forever**.

Is my perception correct? There will be no escape possible? Anybody else ever run into this situation?

Kind of. In F3 i had an albino rad scorp wait for me outside the regulator shack. So unless you have a previous save, i would try kicking the difficulty down to very easy. And if you want to keep your character, maybe drop hardcoe mode if your using it, unless you want the achievement

Good Luck. Cazadors are way over powered IMO.

They're awfully tough, I would also suggest turning it down to very easy, difficulty has no effect on achievements etc and should give you the edge, try to get some space, make a dash for an open area.

I say put it on easy and spam stimpacks as you run for your life. That area gave me a lot of trouble too. Cass kept getting destroyed. However i found the Laser RCW makes for pretty good bug repellent. :P

??? To use a Stimpack, you have to access the Pip Boy. Even fully healed with 275 Hit Points, just disengaging the Pip Boy allows the cazadors to get in a round of stings, putting me at half-health again. That means between then and turning around to open the door gives them enough time to kill me.

I'll give the change in Difficulty a shot, but I'm thinking that going from Normal to Very Easy may not be enough of a change.

Question: If you drop Difficulty for a situation, can you raise it back up again afterward?

SPOILER ALERT! Definitely. (And I don't see how to make a Spoiler hide text feature.)

type "spoiler" in square brackets "[ & ]" before the text and type "/spoiler" in square brackets after the text to hide.

You don't have to Pip-Boy to Stimpack.

You can just Hot-key it to one of the D-pad directions like you would a weapon (assuming Xbox here) or however you'd do it on PS3 or PC if you've got it.

you could try spamming the key for the pipboy as you come out the door to see if it will come up and let you quick travel before it registers that your in combat.

Thanks Fizzii for the how-to!

Dropped to Very Easy and started to pop out, shoot, jump back in. Initially, I was getting back in with only ONE hit point left. But after I took out a few cazadors, I was getting back in only half-dead.

Note: Do NOT use Stimpacks to restore health in this situation. Instead just sleep for an hour. Using Stimpacks (given you have enough of them) is a quick way to run up to Stim addiction.

Turned out that there were EIGHT cazadors fluttering next to the door. (Judging by the body count.) Plus they were smart . After I had popped out and in a couple times, they took to sliding one of their number between me and the door after I popped out, pushing me away from the door. Made it necessary to VATS around to shoot the cazador between me and safety.

Additional Note:
Spoiler
Do NOT bother targeting a cazador's head. Even with zero hit points left in the head, cazadors remain fully functional. Instead, aim for the torso. Once THAT is gone, they're dead.

Along the same lines, I thought I'd be clever and snipe at a giant radscorpion with my nifty new scoped varmint rifle from the graveyard hill and the thing chased me all the way back into town. I ducked into the general store, waited a minute and when I went back out, it had killed the farmer and was running the bighorn all around the house. I finally killed it, but geez, the mobs just don't give up if they think they can kill you.

Cazador are just....stupid. I really hope obsidian can turn them down as you can't kite them at all.

Pop some med-x and run toward some where for help, even if that means back to Vegas.

Do you mean the 'Stim Addiction' Challenge?

There is no addiction to Stim packs, (though Super Stimpacks do have a minor debuff), There is however a challenge that will give you some experience for using 100 of them or something like that called 'Stim Addiction' or something close to that.

I had totally forgotten about Med-X! I'll keep that in mind in the future.

@Cuteness: They have a challenge for Stim Addiction (which I noted), but no actual Stim addiction, no matter how many you use (cumulative or in a big batch)? That seems .... counter-intuitive. A Stim is chem and ANY chem abuse should run the risk of addiction when taken excessively.

And making Stim Addiction a challenge seems kind of Special Ed-ish: "EVERYBODY that competes gets a winner's ribbon! " Where is there any kind of accomplishment in celebrating failure? Makes me devalue pretty much ALL of the "challenges". What's the noteworthy "challenge" in making it to 10th level on Very Easy? Or acquiring a Companion? Or killing 50 animals? Or stomping 50 bugs? Now, the _real_ challenge would be to complete a game without having done those things. Whoever came up with the idea for "challenges" must have the heart and soul of a Bookkeeper.

Cazadors are a real PITA, but I've found that the trick to dealing with them is to go for the wings in VATS first. That will force them onto the ground, where they aren't as mobile (still mobile enough to be a serious threat, but at least you have a chance at running away now). I know it's not much of a help in the situation that prompted the posting of the thread, but it should help in avoiding that situation in the future.
