Traps in Skyrim - Painful but Helpful

Post » Fri Aug 29, 2014 4:00 pm

Traps are not much of a surprise in Skyrim the more you play Skyrim. Traps can deal a lot of damage and it is best to stay clear from them when your health is very low. Sometimes I save traps for some of the tougher enemies that might be ahead of any barrow, fortress, etc. Traps like spiked gates, swinging axes, flammable liquid, and others do a good amount of damage. Sometimes its easy to lead enemies to their traps. Most times, draughs run into their own traps, even death draughs and maybe a dragon priest. In one of my playthroughs of Skyrim, there was one death draugh that tried walking through a set of swinging axes and failed and one dragon priest that set off a swinging log trap that defeated him. Nothing is wrong with using traps to defeat your enemies, even if you have good weapons, armor, etc.. Have you used traps to take care of a group of enemies before?

I've lead countless draugr to their deaths with traps.

Example seeing a draugr at the far side of the passage and there is a swinging spike wall between me and him. I'll shoot him with an arrow and then as he runs towards me, *WHACK!* the draugr goes flying as the wall trap is activated. Same with those log traps that drop from the ceiling. Or swinging blades in hallways. I Whirlwind sprint or run through those to lead draugr after me. Works every time.

Heck I even lead a bandit into stepping in his own bear trap which killed him instantly.

I have never taken the time to wait for the Draugr/Forsworn/Necromancers to all stand on an oil puddle, with an arrow at the ready to drop the oil lamp.

I sometimes enjoy playing pinball in Forelhost, too :hehe:

I like to place bear traps and lure enemies into them by shooting arrows near said traps from afar.

I'll have to admit Bleak falls took me out the first time I went in on release day, despite watching the Quakcon Presentation and getting a good look of the place, after getting low health I went headlong and got my tiddles scared out of my brigems. and I didn't save :teehee:

Spiked door/wall trap and the oil lamp trick are both massively fun.

Having played on high difficulty with Deadly Combat, I can say that I sometimes clear the whole Bleak Fall Barrows by using the door trap.
