Traps wont trigger?

Post » Tue Jan 07, 2014 3:23 pm

Ok so i have the most annoying bug ever in my creation kit, none of my traps when i link them up will trigger,

I placed the trap itself down and then a tripwire / lever etc but when i break the tripwire or pull the lever, the flamethrower will not set off or the dwemer ballista wont fire

All the ones in the game already seem to work fine, even the one in the WarehouseTraps

I have tried to duplicate the traps in the WarehouseTraps and the duplicates work fine but when i copy them or do them myself then they do not work in the Tamriel map?

Am i missing something?

Thanks

Sanity check:

  1. Are they linked properly? Most traps use Activate Parents, but a few need Enable Parents. Make sure you're using the right kind of link.
  2. When you click on your Tripwire, you should see a blue arrow that points to your Trap or TrapLinker. If you don't see a line, then you need to set the Tripwire as an Activate Parent on your Trap/TrapLinker. If you see an arrow but it is pointing AT the Tripwire, clear the Tripwire's Activate Parent and try again.
  3. If you're using a TrapLinker, click it. You should see the arrow coming from your Tripwire AND an arrow leading to each of your Trap object(s). If any of these are missing, then make sure the Traps have the TrapLinker set as their Activate Parent.
  4. If you're not using a TrapLinker, make sure your Trap has the tripwire set as its Activate Parent. Clicking the Trap should show a single blue arrow that pointing to it from the Tripwire.
  5. Do you have the right scripts attached to the right objects? If you're just using the vanilla trap objects, this should be done already.
  6. Do you have the right properties set up in those scripts? Many of the Trap and Trigger scripts are multifunction and may require some properties to be set based on the type of trap trigger you're using.

If all of the above is true as far as you can tell and it's still not working, then see if you can get us a few screenshots of your trap setup; that'll help us figure out where the problem is.
