is this normal? Every time I see her at settlements she's alone

Check Sanctuary, I thought she was alone, then I find her Brahmin in a sanctuary house, or on the roof, or stuck in a tree, or stuck in my cropfield, or stuck between a turret and a tree 300 miles away.

In my game, her Brahmin don't appear until she's about to leave the settlement. They seem to lag behind her by about two game hours. It might be a game feature, intended to allow you to talk to Carla without her Brahmin barging you out of the way - which is what happens when they eventually turn up.

Yes she just mostly hangs out at sanctuary smoking and looking sorry for herself.

Well she does not have any guards, from what i can tell. Her Brahmin is everywhere though, mostly on the roof.

Her brahmin is intermittent...... Sometimes he is there, other times, not..... I have never seen Carla with guards. I don't think she has any.

Yeah, her brahmin will spawn just about anywhere.......

Build brahmin feeding troughs so the brahmins don't go all over the place (but sometimes they do anyway).

I never see her with any guards, but her Brahmin is usually on my roof at Sanctuary.

One time I found her alone smoking by the door of Drumlin Diner, and I was surprised those two hags didn`t bother to kill each other for meddling with each other`s business. Lol

Related question: I've finished every quest I can, main story and all sides. It's been over a month (in game time) since Carla was in Sanctuary, after she was more or less camped there for the entire game. Does she move around? Is it possible she was killed in an attack?

She travels between Sanctuary & Drumlin Diner.

Carla actually has a storefront in Bunker Hill, so I suppose that's her "base" there.

My carla can be often found at Spectacle Island.. and will travel to any settlement.

Of course I've seen Carla standing over the bodies 1/2 a dozen supermutants when I've gone past her, so I have a feeling that guards wouldn't be of much use to her. She is, apparently, a beast in combat.

I found Carla beating the crap out of everyone during the battle of bunker hill using a baseball bat. It was hilarious lol

Carla is the only merchant I've never seen traveling with guards. You can initially run into her between Concorde and Drumlin Diner, just sat down on the road with her brahmin nearby. No guards, despite a raider party behind rocks nearby.

As for why her brahmin starts lagging, I've noticed the pathfinding for them (Along with the spawning when you fast travel) seems a bit off with brahmin as hers seems unable to walk around my turrets at the bridge without pushing against it for ages. Does the same with random junk and structures too and after that it never seems to quite catch up.

Strangely, none of the other traders, nor provisioners seem to lose their brahmin.

I have so many provisioners now it's like a traffic jam going on all the time when roads cross. The worst are by Drumlin and out by Taffington. I can't even keep track of who is who any more.

This is why for the most part is settlement only has one or two provisioners.

Sanctuary is linked to Abernathy Farm and the Drive in. Drive in to Tenpines and Covenant. Abernathy takes Oberland and Sunshine Co-op and so on. I tried doing them all from Sanctuary once when a glitch meant my settlers totaled 40. Never again.

For me, each settlement only has 1 provisioner (okay, Red Rocket has 2), but I just have so many settlements now that they really cause traffic jams.

They have the tendacy to get stuck on stuff and lag behind the caravan leaders. I see them running super fast to catch up all the time.
