Travel Choices for Elder Scrolls V

Again. I have walked across Cyrodil, it does not take 3 hours.

And what you still have yet to answer how fast travel is considered CHEATING!!!!!

Edit: Before we go in circles here. I'm here to say im disagreeing with you because your making it such a big deal. Not because I wouldn't welcome new alternatives. You guys are always attacking oblivion this is just me biting back.

I'm actually worried about how bad your taking fast traveling. You don't want to walk and you don't want to cheat. You guys are just to uptight really.

I'd love for you to link me where I said fast travel was cheating..? You just completely made that up and put words in my mouth.
I think fast travel cheapens the epic feel of the game. Never, not once, did I say it was cheating. It's a terrible alternative to silt striders, that's it.

I just realized I forgot to mention the slow horses that were an alternative to walking everywhere in Oblivion in my last post. Yes, they are better than walking, but they still aren't enough. No, I don't want super-fast horses, but they can't replace alternative travel systems.

Horses are pretty much the same thing as walking, except you can't fight back unless you get off. Plus, one can end up running faster than the horses.

There's a big difference between walking CONSTANTLY and walking OCCASIONALLY. In Morrowind, you had travel systems, so you did not walk ALL the time. I do not like walking constantly, everywhere and anywhere. Sometimes I don't want to walk, which is why I would use a Silt Strider. But in Oblivion, I have to walk EVERYWHERE. I don't understand how this is so hard for you to comprehend.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. If Bethesda makes the same mistake again, I'll just make a mod to fix it. I feel bad for the console gamers who actually don't want everything handed to them on a silver platter, but unfortunately the people who do far outweigh the people who don't.

your still not understanding my post. Throughout pretty much this whole thing I have asked whats the worst thing that happens to you when you fast travel. Its given to with out cheat codes by the creator. Yet you call it cheating. Thats like saying that the crosshairs in shooter games is cheating. Why have it when you don't get crosshairs that just float right in front of your eyes at all times in real life.

I just don't think your really going through and read my whole post. I just said that it does not take that long to go from one city to the next on horse back. Not only that but you seem to ignore the fact that this dicussion has gone on for long enough. Fast travel has been made a bigger deal that it really is.

I have read several reviews on this game. NOT ONE SINGLE REVIEW given by a magazine or a website or a tv show that has ever ever complained about fast travel. None of my friends have said anything about it. Nor has the usual everyday fallout fan. You people on this forum seem to be the only ones who are so worried about it. Being a former fan of morrowind is okay but you have to come to a time and realize that the game industry has changed. You need to stop complaning about this one ridiculously stupid topic. I haven't even been on this forum for more than a year yet i have seen more bashing on this topic than anything else. I have read all your complaints and I have failed to see the problem, this game is not made personally for you its made for the consumer. If i was a mod i would have this thread locked. It a stupid waste of time that i even typing this rant. If you want a real thing to bash, bash elder scrolls bugs and glitches and horrid voice acting or walls of text reading in morrowind. I have seen fast travel as no form of cheating and you all have spammed the forum to point of stupidness. Really guys grow up, I fail to see even the problem with discussing this any longer. If you don't like it then get the PC version and mod it other than that even continuing discussion on this is starting to sound like spam.

Also what i see spawns from this topic is aswell a predjudice towards oblivion. I have never heard one complaint towards Morrowind, and I know I can name quite a few that don't have to do with fast travel. You guys are just like every other ignorant fan that spawns when a sequel comes out. Oblivion, GTA IV, Halo 3! All have constantly been compared to their past games and bashed repeatley. They give you a million, you ask for a billion, they give you gold you ask for platinum.

I will ask around some mods to lock this. This has gotten beyond stupid.

I read it, and like Betrayer of Humanity said, I've never seen someone call fast travel cheating, and I certainly haven't called it that. I'd like to see you find a post where someone says that.

You're just as aggravated that we're hating on fast travel as we are that you're so madly in love with it. As I've said before, I played Oblivion and Fallout 3 before Morrowind, and only after playing Morrowind did I recognize fast travel's flaws. Now I want it gone, because I saw how great Morrowind's style of travel was and how much better it was than Oblivion's fast travel.

And as I've said NUMEROUS times, yes, I will mod it in if Bethesda makes the same mistake again. You don't need to tell me buddy, trust me. I may lose some respect for Bethesda but at least I'll have a fix for their horrible travel system.

Here, have a http://www.tonymarini.com/Images/Daisy%20Chill%20Pill_sm_comp.jpg.

Note: That pillow he's holding is totally random, I promise.

Look, I'm going to leave this open, mainly since I really don't think this subject should be too controversial, but if I have to come back in here again, I will not be happy.

People have different tastes in games, just because you disagree doesn't make either one of you wrong.

okay fine but i still say that this is really just a overused topic. I've heard it in just about every obivion bashing argument. I'm hoping that you have at least convince us all to stop bashing passed games an actually make suggestion for the next TES. I just got excited because people were fighting over it and I got mad at how much bashing was going on. Now i regret saying anything. It seems there is way to much discussion on this topic. Which is why i am no longer posting in this thread.

I just think, among many others here, that fast travel mainstreams the game. What feels more real? Having to walk to locations outside of cities, or being able to instantly appear there?
IMO, the Morrowind system was amazing. You had hundreds of caves/dungeons to go and crawl through outside of cities, and you took city to city transport to get to said cities.
After that, getting to those caves was up to you by foot. Now, throwing in horses, such as OB did, that really helped it go faster. Although, at some point on my warrior, I ran faster than the fastest horse in the game. But anyway, my point is, having to go to a city near a cave, and then walking to it, is much more realistic and fun, and promotes exploration, rather than, "lol sup, i wanna go 20k miles away, *click*, im there".

You know, when I make a post telling people to cut it out, I expect for that to happen. Obviously, that has not happened because I'm here again.
