Travel Services cost more

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:43 pm

Hi, all of the travel services that cost gold, cost much more than what they did before, and my stats have remained exactly the same. Can someone please explain why they have risen and how to bring them back down. Ps the last time I installed a mod was before the last time the prices were at the normal value so it isn't a mod.

In the vanilla game, the cost is always 10 gold, despite what price is shown in the Travel menu. (only 10 gold is removed from your inventory, even if it says the trip will cost more)

The MW Code Patch fixes that glitch, so that you pay the amount shown.

But anyways...
In both cases, the NPC's Disposition determines the cost amount in the Travel menu. The more they dislike you, the higher the cost.

But the disposition is at 100 and the lower price was also at disposition 100.

Hmm, chances are it is a mod conflict of some sort.
Post your Load Order, please.

Low Fatigue can also cause prices to rise. Of course, I don't know whether that's the case here, but it's still worth checking.

Edit: Also, companions. If you have a follower, travel prices double. Two followers, triple prices. And so on.

I finally discovered the reason. In the televani stronghold I asked a mechanical spider to follow me, but a scrict error appeared and I thought it didn't do anything. The game must have counted it as a companion even though it wasn't following me. When I went to my stronghold and accidently talked it it, I saw the option follow me and then it clicked. So I told it to wait here and then the prices returned to normal.

That sounds like an incredible coincidence..

Dont think having a companion changes the price, unless your running some awesome mod that adds it into consideration.

or i am about to learn that companions DO change price, not that ive ever, ever read about it or noticed it before..

Actually they do. See my above post. If you are given the task of escorting Itermerel to Pelagiad and you decide to take him to Seyda Neen via silt strider because it is closer to Pelagiad, Selvil the caravaner will charge double his usual price for taking the two of you because he has a good business sense. ;)

Followers cost extra even in non-modded game. When I was playing around with the "permanent summon" glitch on Xbox and made my army of Golden Saints the travel options were Very Expensive!
