traveling far from any cities (shelter)

I had this thought while playing Oblivion and now with Skyrim.
If you're far from a city/town and want to take a break/sleep (is sleeping possible in Skyrim? I haven't bought the game yet), it would be nice to have a tent in your inventory.
So when it gets late you can set up the tent and rest a couple of hours, maybe build a fire and have something to eat.

Maybe only with mods, but it would be nice to do.

There are various camps you come across in the Wilderness which you can use. I'd like the ability to make a tent but I wouldn't really want to sleep in Skyrim's wilds anyway lol.

Are there bandits attacking you at every turn? In Oblivion, 99% of the people I encountered in the wilderness were hostile towards me.
Do you meet any friendly people just going about their daily lives that might have a quest for you if you ask instead of trying to make you dead?
