Traveling merchants?

Arent there like caravans in Skyrim? It would be cool if there were, and if so, there can be like traveling merchants, you can buy and sell supplies and horses,or hire companions, or just travel along!

That could be cool but maybe it would make selling loot from dungeons too easy

I agree with Zzaaqqaa on the caravans.
One way to prevent them to make selling loot to easily is have only a few of them and they stop by at cities regularly.
Also, they wouldn't be essential so if one dies there's just one less to make it harder to find them or just be replaced by another.

Yes, please. Travelers in general. For those of us who rarely fast traveled, the roads were a lonely place. It made sense during the Oblivion Crisis, but less so in the times surrounding.

Not just merchants, but bandits with personality, travelers, pilgrims. I enjoyed running into that crusader pilgrim and his squire during the KotN storyline. I'd be satisfied if they just gave the Legion guards greater depth. Frequently enough so that you'd cross paths with someone on almost any trip.

Yea traveling merchants hopefully will be included in Skyrim. The roads were way too abandoned in my opinion in Oblivion, except for the occasional imperial legion guy on his horse.

Or why not make a travelling merchant profession. So players can try their hand at setting up their own shop and sell wears they find?

The problem I see with this is the fact that most merchants will probably get killed by roving baddies making for some very easy loot if you happen across the corpse. Merchants would have to have guards, then, and that will only increase the free armor and the like when a dragon swoops down and roasts them all. Can't see a good way to make it work.

There was a mod for Oblivion that added travelers to the roads, and I believe the greatest flaw with it was the fact that bodies were piling up along the road . . .

Well they could respawn after a while, replaced by family members or something? And of course, a caravan would have guards, but if a dragon attacked, the guards woulnt stand a chance. I still think it would be kinda cool though.
