Kiedi - Tree Ranger/Hunter - Woodsman - Bowman

Titles my character can be addressed by.

Kiedi prefers to not wear Armour as it is heavy (even light armour makes noise).

Currently wearing - Green Shirt , Green robe hood, Tan linens(soon to be huntsmans pants, Hunters moccasins.

Anyone think they can find a better combo for stealthy type characters?

I need to blend into the towns and cities as well as be comfortable and camouflaged to my surroundings when in the trees (forests and Jungles)

I really like the sound of this character. I have a couple just like it. The "Forester" type though I called mine "Pathfinder".

Anyway, I wanted to mix roleplay with effectiveness so I use Silver bow / arrows. They're powerful, they fly true, and they can damage things that are otherwise immune. As for poisons, it depends on the enemy. I use alchemy to brew a whole bunch, but generally Drain Speed is quite useful.

If you want a good ranger look use the iron bow.

also huntsmans pants, leather curaiss and brown zealot hood from shivering isles.

Since I have lots of different characters, I use lots of different bows. My Bosmer hunter uses fine steel, which I think has a nice look to it and is a bit better than normal steel. My other characters tend to either stay with Elven or move up (when they can) to Ebony - those are my other favorites. If you've got Shivering Isles and the unofficial patch, the Grummite bow is very nice - it looks like an iron bow, but is much better - both lighter and more powerful (5 units weight, which makes it the lightest bow in the game and 17 points of base damage, which puts it between glass and ebony). However, it was eliminated in the final release, so the only way to get it is to have the unofficial patch installed (which reintroduces it) or to console or mod it in.

For clothes for a woodsman character, I prefer the tan linens, stitched leather shoes and the Forester's shirt (and a green robe hood). That shirt definitely looks best for a woodsman character, but the problem is that it's sort of hard to come by. There are only a few in the vanilla game, and all are worn. Roland Jenseric has one of them, but I never kill Roland. Hlidara Mothril - Countess Caro's servant - wears one, and I have no particular problem with killing her, but it's hard to get away with. However, there is one available if you have Knights of the Nine - Sir Lathon (Sir Roderic's squire) wears one initially, then when he changes to KotN armor, he carries it in his inventory, so you can pickpocket it. Or you can just console one in....

Mm hmm, me too. I love these polls, but I always have trouble narrowing my answer down to one choice.

I chose "other" because I guess my fave would be the Bow of Embers, whatever it's called. I find one every now and then while dungeon-diving. I love catching the enemy on fire, from a distance, it really pisses 'em off sometimes! ;)

For a no armor male woodsy archer, you have the uniform all sorted out (Forester shirt, green hood, blah, blah). :foodndrink:

I like two bows:

1. Grummite. It looks like a very simple wood longbow with no fantasy frills. Very light with power between glass and ebony. Available at level one. You need SI and to be on PC with the UOP installed to find them. Otherwise grummites carry iron bows.

2. Daedric. Simple, lethal, elegant and I love them. Available at level 20. May not have the 'woodsy' look you're going for, but I prefer them to the other 'big kid' bows (amber & madness).

As far as poisons, I carry a ton of simple damage health ones. Then a lesser supply of shock + health damage ones. Then a smaller supply still of the following types:
Paralize + health damage + magicka dmage + silence + frost damage.
Health damage + fire damage + silence + frost damage.
Damage speed.
Damage strength.

I also like to use weakness to poison spells to double the fun.

Arrows? Simple. Best available for my level, ultimately daedric. Elven look very woodsy cool methinks if you're goin' for looks.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion542.jpg uses the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7667, which I modded by changing out the texture for the golden one found on the Elven Bow. She wears the Miran-Talurn Armor from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11464 (you don't need Pack 1 to use it). The bow is exotic compared to what is in the game (while being true to real life), and has the golden wood common to elven weapons in the game, with the typical elven adornments on it. The armor likewise not only has that woodsy feel, but also is beautifully decorated. Both give Teresa the look of someone at home in the forest.

For arrows, I use whatever I can pick up, except I never use Daedric. Elven is my preference though, purely for looks.

Poisons I prefer to keep pretty simple, so as to not overpower my character. Just a straight damage health, or elemental damage for the most part. Sometimes I'll make some Silence ones to use on spellcasters. But I can usually kill them on the first shot, so long as they do not see me.

I'm having huge difficulties with this poll. I can't narrow down my choices to one! :P :shakehead: Out of the vanilla bows, my characters use a mix of custom-enchanted Ebony bows (usually a Damage Health and/or Soul Trap spell), Ruin's Edge, Shadowhunt and custom-enchanted Amber bows (usually elemental damage and/or a Soul Trap spell). Ultimately, Ebony got my vote, because it's probably the most common one I use. As far as poisons and arrows go, my characters use various enchanted arrows or higher quality regular arrows (and then Hatreds Soul arrows to finish the enemy off, unless the bow already has a Soul Trap enchantment). Poisons can be anything from elemental damage to attribute damage, depending on the enemy and what potion ingredients my character happens to find in the forest.

You character sounds interesting!

My current Argonian thief/assassin is using a grand madness bow. I seems to suit him and his personality, and goes with his heretic robes and hood. I'm using dwarfen arrows, but I wish you could buy ebony.

Lothran currently uses a dwarven bow. It looks nice, though it would do better with a thinner string
