Ive donated the bipolar blade and umbra but still she says I need to donate more..

Make sure you are donating the items, not selling them.
Otherwise they don't count.

I believe that you also have to click the discussion topic near the top of her menu, something like “ancient Dwemer device”.

I have to confront the anonymous writer... he's hidden in a locked room in the craftsman hall... is there a key to open the door? Im nowhere near level 70 and the master trainer is thieves guild only which I am not.

Bols Indalen has the key, but you'd have to pickpocket it off of him. (or kill him)

I suggest getting some scrolls of Ekash's Lock Splitter. They can open very difficult locks.
