Why
There are many reasons why there should be tridents in skyrim, but i'm only going to name a couple. Reason 1: The game takes place in skyrim, a place and race obviously influenced by vikings, so why should the game leave out an important tool/ weapon from imaginary viking legend and culture? There is a port city after all, who's chief resource is most likely uh.... I dunno, the OCEAN!! Reason 2: What better weapon would there be to hunt dragons and sea serpents with? Now i don't know for sure that there are sea serpents, but if there were, again: what better weapon? Reason 3: If Bethesda is going to add a gladiator arena to skyrim like they had in oblivion then they might as well have some classic arena weapons. (Speaking of, a net wouldn't be a bad thing either, wouldn't do much against a dragon though...) Reason 4: Having a trident would just be plain OSM-SOS!!! What would be better then having a sparkling golden trident to impale your enemies with?

Now maybe i'm a little overkill about this, and maybe tridents are already in the game. After all, Todd did say spears, but not in the classical sense, and a trident isn't exactly a classical spear so it could be what he is referring to. And maybe i'm being a little baby girl fantastical daydreamer, but hey, if it gets my favorite weapon of all time into my favorite game of all time then i don't care. So tell me what you think and why.

FYI: I didn't include an "I don't care" option in the pole because if you don't care, you shouldn't be voting anyways. But if you do care, please vote and comment. I want to hear your opinion.


EDIT: I also took out the "No" option to better help reinforce my opinion. So if you want to say no, leave a very in depth answer why not?

Yes there should be Tridents... along with other pole arms (Spear, halbard, quaterstaff, etc.)

Yah, but Bethesda already said no spears. And a trident is NOT a spear, in the classical sense. SO why not hope for what we can have?

Personally I feel there was already enough in the way of melee weapons, I want more marksman weapons :gun:

If they're not gonna put spears I doubt that they'll include tridents...

The forums are for discussion not just agreeing with everything. You just have to expect that not everyone will agree and still want to voice their opinion.

Can this post be deleted? There is only one option in the poll, and the poster isn't even discussing with people who say no, he's just pretty much saying "no there's no classical spears so there will be tridents"

woah woah woah hold up there big boi. "no there's no classical spears so there will be tridents" was just one answer to one question/ arguement, i'll get to all of your exciting, thought provoking statements in one moment.

What is a spear in the classical sense? A long stick with a pointy metal part on the end, oh but if it looks like a fork then it's definitely not a spear? Or are you hoping for a TMNT trident?
